Mega Man 7... shiny new graphics and great music (they brought back some stuff I haven't heard in a while). Off to a promising start.

After playing through the intro level (and winning the little fight against Bass) I started Cloud Man's stage. They did some interesting stuff here that wasn't possible on the NES. Aside from the rain pouring down, there was also a section where the platforms were invisible when not right in front of or behind Mega Man. You have a small sphere of visibility and some jumps can be tricky.

Cloud Man wasn't as tough as I expected. You fight him on even ground with open space on either side. He alternates between pulling you toward him to do damage or pushing you away to make you fall off the edge. Then he starts using a lightning attack that runs along the ground. Sometimes both are happening at the same time, so you have to keep MM from getting pushed too far in either direction and also jump over the lightning. But it was easier than it sounds, and he wasn't hard to damage.

BTW, they apparently returned Rush to his normal more useful form from the older Mega Man games. And Protoman made a neat appearance to give some advice.

I can definitely say now that I prefer the style and control of the original series over that of the Mega Man X series.
