Heh. That's a strange one.

How do custom titles work here these days? I used to have one before, and I was thinking about having something besides Pirate up there anyway, if possible.

While I'm posting here already, I want to go into some more detail about the final stages of Mega Man 5. The stages were divided between Protoman's apparent hideout and Wily's lair once you find out that he's the one in charge.

The first level was one of the toughest for me since it has those blocks that disappear and reappear in a complicated pattern, and you have to use them to get over spikes and up to the ladder to progress.

The final stage of the Protoman part of the game has you up against the true form of the Protoman imposter.

The bosses in these early stages were not impressive as I recall. They were generic looking robots with various simple attacks. But this guy was pretty tough until I got his pattern down. He only does two things, so it didn't take long. First he fires an energy wave at you and jumps towards you. So you run or slide to the other side, fire a charged shot at him, and jump over the energy wave as it returns to him. He also sometimes rapidly fires a normal weapon at you. You have to be fairly quick to avoid it, and I couldn't counterattack during this part. But it still didn't take too long to win.

That's the point where you have to go to Wily's lair for a few more mostly unmemorable stages. After a couple of tough but not frustrating levels (though some had fairly tough giant robots for bosses), you get to the point where you have to fight all the bosses again. I had trouble remembering which one was weak to what power, since I beat most of them the first time with the default weapon. But once I got it figured out, they only took a few minutes to beat.

Then it was on to Wily himself, and his three forms. I can't remember exactly when they all occured, but the first was a large UFO kind of thing. He'd hover near the top of the screen, and pick a spot to crash down to the floor. You had to avoid the ship falling on you, and a couple spikes on the ground, and fire back before he lifted off again.

Next form was a giant threatening looking robot. Did all kinds of attacks, but most weren't too bad to avoid. I stayed at the left part of the screen, and constantly fired charged shots at it until I won.

Final form of Wily was tricky, but a fairly simple pattern. He's in his small UFO ship and he appears briefly at various places on the screen. And that's when I would hit him. Then he starts using a strange attack with blue fireballs that do a lot of damage if they hit. Just kept going along with this until I finally won. I had several energy tanks at this point, so it was no trouble waiting a while to get some good attacks in.

The ending was disappointingly short, and that's really all I can say.
