I finished Metroid Prime a few days ago. Meta Ridley took me two tries to beat. I didn't really like that boss much; it sort of seemed thrown in--like "we need to get Ridley in the game." Besides, once you get him on the ground, all you have to do is hit him with the Wave Buster.

I didn't like the final boss much, either. I think in MP, the bosses start off good and get worse as the game progresses. Metroid Prime (the boss, not the game) seemed like it had little thought put into it. It uses the "use the appropriate beam for the color" routine that the game falls into in it's later half. There's really no reason to try and figure out how to dodge its charge attack, since it barely hurts you. The second haf of the boss fight is boring. It's just sitting there jumping the fire blasts while waiting for it to appear. It's like the designers thought "It's too easy, so let's throw in a couple of Metroids to disract/knock around the player."

I'm also on level 9 of Halo. I'll post about it in the other HALO thread in modern gaming. But the Aliens ripoffs are coming fast and furious. Lots of soldier dialog seems to be paraphrased from Aliens. For instance, there's one part where a soldier says, "I got a bad feeling about this," and another replies "You always got a bad feeling about something." And the main ship looks just like the Sulaco.

BTW, I also noticed the picture of the Elite covenant troop looks JUST like Schwang Schwing from MDK 2. Right down to the "sunglasses."
