I feel that maybe I should say something subjective about DK64.

After playing this game for so long, is my heart softening towards it at all? Maybe a little (and that little bit is only tenatively). There are only about three parts (out of maybe 20 hours of play so far) that could be considered good, and most of the game feels like just wasting time. But at least it wastes time painlessly. Hmm, that doesn't sound like even fair praise, does it?

Some of the things I've mentioned about this game (like the endless backtracking and re-exploring) are present in other games. For instance, every time you gain a new item in a Legend of Zelda game, you'll have to re-explore a lot of the game world. But DK64 takes this to a much greater magnitude than probably any other game. For people who love exploring, DK64 would probably give them their money's worth. Personally, I enjoy exploring to some extent, but this game seems to go over the line.
