I played a little more of Rebel Strike and Rogue Leader, and made no progress. In Rebel Strike, I guess I finished Luke's path, so I still have a mission or two of Wedge's to beat. The one I'm stuck on now (an attack on an Imperial Shipyard) is divided into at least three parts. The first part is one of those fly-everywhere dogfight missions I'm not very fond of. For this one, though, you don't have to shoot down any enemies (in principle, at least); you just have to defend a thing until it crashes into the imperials.

The second part is very short. You just have to shoot a shield generator. The problem is, you just have to fly straight towards it (meaning you can't really dodge without getting off target), and your wingmates are terrible at providing cover.

Still, these two parts are relatively easy for me now.

The next part seems like it could be good. It's more like a traditional (Star Fox-ish) shooter stage, in that you fly through paths. It's an assault on a Super Star Destroyer that's still being built.

The thing is, it seems impossible to avoid taking hits during this part. You can't really dodge lasers, because they seem to move faster than your ship. What I tried to do, during my last run or two, was just try jittering back and forth, in an attempt to keep the gun towers from drawing a bead on me. It didn't really work. And you can't really shoot the towers. The only way you can shoot anything is by flying straight at it, so if you're shooting at a tower, it will be shooting at you.

In Rogue Leader, I also made no progress. The first part of the mission I'm on is boring. It involves a lot of flying through empty space, and you have to fly for a while before the mission even really starts (before any enemies appear). I did, however, learn that Wedge is a total jerk. His wingmates ask him something like, "Do you really think we'll find anything in this rubble?" Wedge snaps back, "Cut the chatter!"

Anyway, the first part is really easy, but I keep dying or failing in the next part. You have to destroy some gun towers, and it seems they only take damage from bombs, which I really don't like using. Using them causes an awkward perspective change: You're still flying forward, but the view is now a tilted one from above.

I've destroyed a bunch of these towers, but the mission still isn't over. After one point, some NPCs say something about how they need to arm themselves. But it seems like you finish that subsection of the mission by again destroying more towers (?). And then after that, the NPCs say something else, about some communications thing, but I think you're just supposed to destroy more towers. I'm not really sure. I guess this goes back to what I said earlier about a lot of the challenge from these games coming from just understanding what you're supposed to do.
