I beat Final Fantasy Legend II a long time ago. I remember it being a really long game.

Yes, Cannon Spike's music is really bad. Sometimes it's annoying, sometimes it's neither good nor bad but just sorta "there", and other times it's so awful that I think the only way it could possibly be that awful is if was done on purpose. (Examples: The terrible, terrible ending credits theme, which I think is a really fu><0r3d-up easy-listening version of the Super Ghouls n Ghosts end credits theme, and the music in the stage right before you fight Balrog (Vega) for the second time.)

I have some more comments to make about Cannon Spike, but bear in mind I've only complete the game on the two lowest possible difficulty settings so far...

First of all, I'm tired of the attitude of "the idea of this game is to beat it in one credit". This seems to be an excuse for lazy game design. Beating a game in one credit is a goal you make when you really like a game and want to master it. It should never be a goal from the start of the game, and here are my reasons why:

1. Because why can't this rule be applied to ANY game? Example: "You can't say Castlevania IV is too easy unless you beat it in one life!"

2. Because the number of total lives you get varies per game. For example, in DoDonPachi, you can change the number of lives in reserve to five (or something), but what if a game only gives you three? Or in Cannon Spike, you only get one life (though you have a life meter)? Beating a game in one credit has less meaning if you one game gives you 3 lives to do it, another gives you 10, another gives you 5, and another gives you only 1, etc.

Other thoughts I have on Cannon Spike include:

The graphics are really bland. The swamp looks like it was lifted directly from the swamp areas in Dreamcast Record of Lodoss War.

Okay, so Cannon Spike's gameplay isn't so great. Neither is its music or graphics. So, what does that leave us with? The fun of playing as different Capcom characters. The problem here is that the enemies they fight are all from the Psykio universe (except Vega/Balrog), and the Psykio universe is really bland...So, while the idea of seeing Mega Man or B.B. Hood or Arthur or Cammy (etc.) in situations they normally wouldn't be in and fighting enemies they normally wouldn't fight would seem fun, it isn't when all the enemies are Boring Psykio Mech Design #2498.

And if the idea of this game was to be nonsensical and funny, then it needs to go over-the-top with it, and it doesn't. About the funniest thing is a dune buggy driven by ninjas called the "Hayabusa Buggy", but even that's not as funny as it could be.

Case in Point: When you fight the final boss, of course after you deplete his energy meter, he has a second form. What frightening second form could this boss possibly have? Wow! It turns YELLOW! That idea has been old since Dragon Ball Z, Psykio!!
