I've mostly been playing Cannon Spike, but the more I play it, the more I dislike it. I'm about to toss it aside and move onto something else.

The thing that annoys me the most about the reviews for this game is that a lot of people tout it as an "oldschool" game. This game is anything but "oldschool" and I find that as offensive as people calling Dreamcast's Record of Lodoss War a "hardcore oldschool action challenge". Things like being designed to be beaten in one credit, no level design aside from bullet-hell pattern dodging, lock-on targeting, and the order in which you do the first sets of levels being completely random (not to mention that the graphics are STILL polygonal, not sprite-based) are all new-age approaches to action gaming. This is not what "oldschool" games were like and it's not what they were about.
