I got to what I think may have been one level before the Pie Factory of Donkey Kong on that arcade machine, but even though I played quite a bit of the N64 version (and it's very much arcade-accurate), I was out-of-practice with using a joystick. And at one point, I hit the jump button, but Mario didn't jump and that's what took my last life.

It was pretty good, though perhaps it didn't have quite as many games as the New Jersey shore (on the other hand, that place had multiple arcades).

I firmly believe that arcade Donkey Kong machine I played at the shore in NJ is the same one that my local arcade place had years ago. The one at my arcade had a very noticeable burn mark on it and that arcade machine at the shore had the same burn mark in the same place. (I don't know how the burn mark got there, but maybe it was once rented by a place that caught fire. Or maybe some dumb kid did it with a cigarette lighter.) It's kind of funny to know that's where it will probably be forever unless that place goes out of business.

I wonder what happened to the Contra machine my local arcade place had? That one we didn't see at the shore. That's the only time I've ever seen a Contra arcade machine anywhere.
