I only played Metroid Prime 1 for about 3 hours, but in that time I'd say it was more than six times more interesting than what I've seen so far in Metroid Prime 2.

One advantage that Metroid Prime 1 had: Super Metroid had a pretty good "grabber" of an opening. Metroid Prime sort of took that and just did a 3D version of it. Of course, you can't just keep using that opening over and over.

I went back to Super Mario Sunshine for a little bit tonight and got a few shines. The platforming it has is probably even better than the best parts of Super Mario 64, but most of the game is just 3D odds and ends, and most those activities just kind of suck.
