Read more Half Blood Prince. Liking it a little bit more now.

In terms of gaming, I tried some new stuff with Games on Demand. Once you let the games download completely, they run fine. Defragging after getting a bunch of them isn't a bad idea, though.

So first I tried this game called Independance War 2. It's a space game, and seemed like it might be fun, but I couldn't quite get the hang of the controls. The tutorial helped, but not enough. Lost interest after persistant difficulties. Didn't seem like it would be better than Klingon Academy, anyway.

I had more luck with Serious Sam 2. From what I understand, these were low cost ($20 or so?) FPS games with a focus on the basics. Fighting, fighting, and more fighting. No detailed cinematics or complicated storyline, just lots of action. The graphics are surprisingly excellent, and it runs very well on my PC. It's been a very colorful game so far... lots of outdoor stuff... and nothing scary. It seems a parody of the FPS genre, but doesn't actually manage to be funny to me. Except for the time I got a speed up powerup and Sam yelled out "SERIOUS SPEED!" There's also a planet or something called Sirius. Unfortunately, it seems like another play on the word serious, and Harry Potter's godfather is likely not involved.

It's all a nice change from the gloom of Doom 3. IGN gave it a 9.2, if anyone cares to hear what a regular site thought of it.

There's a good variety of weapons already (I do expect more later on) and you have to handle different creatures in different ways, so it's not completely mindless.

I'm going to send Coded Arms back, because after playing an above average, maybe "good", FPS, there's no way I can go back to that again.
