I was kind of in the mood to play a little Final Fantasy 1 after reading that site CB007 linked to today/last night, but I couldn't find my copy of Final Fantasy Origins (and my NES is tied up with Might and Magic). Oh, well.

So, I did get back into Might and Magic a bit tonight. I've been mapping the White Wolf cave. It has quite a few set enemy encounters -- some squares even have more than one, if you face different ways. And in areas near set encounters, you can't camp.

On the other hand, I haven't gotten a game over there, yet. The closest was when I fought a party of basilisks (only one party so far has had them) and two of my characters were turned to stone. I can't fix that in the wild, so I had to return to Sorpigal.

The downside of the battles here is that they can be a little drawn out. These are more of those battles where the front row is filled with weak enemies, so it can help to have everyone but my wizard block, and have my wizard attack the back row with FIRE or BOLT. But that got sort of boring, so in the past couple of fights I've been using more physical attacks to speed things up.
