Eternal Darkness controls like a standard third-person action game, in that pressing a direction makes the character walk in that direction.

Another annoying thing in RE4 is that you have to manually aim. When you press R, Leon's feet become cemented to the ground, and the control stick changes where he points his gun. That means you can shoot people in the ass.

While "attack mode" in Eternal Darkness also cemented your feet to the ground, not only did you have automatic lockon, you could actually drop it and run if you needed to. RE4's clunky controls mean you can't get out of the way of an attack that's coming at you head on. RE4 needed a sidestep.
