I've been given what seems like the slowest computer ever.
Its a 1.6 ghz P4, running Windows XP. It's only got 128MB of RAM though, and takes an insanely long time to turn on and do even the simplest of tasks. Installing earthlink on it so I could sign on with dialup gave me a warning that I didn't have enough RAM (it only shows as having 120MB and Earthlink wants 128) and that it might not run well.

My 633mhz Celeron Compaq running the evil Windows ME is lightning fast in comparison.

I ordered some RAM from an online store that seems to be the right type. If I screwed up or it just doesn't work (it's generic) I only lose $30.

I familiarized myself with the innards of this computer too and it seems like it was designed by someone especially cruel, with all sorts of things in the way. The Dell was so much easier, and the Compaq seemed that way too, even though I didn't touch the RAM on that, just installed a new modem.

The best thing about it is the nice 17 inch monitor.
