In the other Panzer Dragoon Orta topic that I had forgotten about, Facilitypro said that he played a few levels and never got around to playing more. I just wanted to say that if someone doesn't enjoy this game after the first few levels, I don't think later stages will do anything to change that opinion.

I finished the game on easy mode, and it just feels like it's missing something. I am going to play on the harder settings of course, but I suspect that it's not going to solve the problem. The levels are just a little too simplistic. Sure, it's hard to destroy every enemy and get a perfect rating, but the stages should be fun even if you're just trying to get to the end and beat the game. There are good sections of stages, and the bosses are usually entertaining. But a lot of the time, I just wish for something more.

The unlockable stuff isn't that great. There's a set of sub scenarios where you play as an imperial student. Sounds interesting, but you use this horrible flying vehicle that's a nightmare to control properly. And the objectives are very often frustrating. There are some other sub missions where you control the dragon, but I haven't played many of those. One of them is simply to destroy enough enemies in a time limit... not all that much fun, either.

The original Panzer Dragoon is unlockable now, and I played a little bit of that. Just the first stage. Just wanted to say that based on the first level, which was a boring water based stage, I think Orta and Zwei were much more fun. The boss was alright, but didn't do very much.

Some of the other unlockable stuff seems interesting... you get images, FMV clips, an encyclopedia, stuff like that.

Anyway, Orta isn't a bad game. It's considerably fun at times, and I suspect normal and hard modes might make for some more exciting boss battles and better sections of stages. I'll be playing it for quite some time still. I just think it could've been a lot more fun with some small improvements here and there.
