You can expect it will be difficult to get the hang of it, especially if this is the first game of its type you've played. You can also expect to do a lot of mapping, so an investment in the game also means an investment in some graph paper.

If you get the hang of it, though, you might just find yourself getting totally absorbed in it. The story is very minimal. Your characters do not have personalities (you may as well just rename them to whatever you want since it won't affect anything). But your party is highly-customizable, there's lots to explore, find, and do. Battle system isn't absolutely perfect, but it's swift, and often requires strategy, so you're not mindlessly selecting "fight" all the time. It looks great and has a fantastic Masaharu Iwata soundtrack.

BTW, unless there's something that just isn't coming to my memory right now, this is the first and only PC-style RPG I've ever completed. Well, maybe also Ultima VI, but that's way more like a console RPG than Might and Magic.
