More glitches:

When you enter Castle Alamar without the King's Pass, a guard will stop you and throw you out. The dialogue says, "Castle guards exclaim", but it doesn't say what they exclaim. There was probably supposed to be a line about the King's Pass here, but there isn't anything.

Sometimes when walking between overworld areas onto squares with visible trees, the trees will be dark briefly, like they are when you enter a dark area (such as A1). This seems to especially happen a lot when walking between Areas D3 and E3.

If a spell fails in battle, sometimes it severely messes up the monsters' palettes for a turn. Also, if you kill the monster with a normal weapon after a spell fails, it will explode as though it was killed by magic (similar to the same glitch that occurs if you cancel a spell and then finish a monster off with a weapon.)

Notes on earlier posts:

No Cure2?
There are two Cure1 spells, one in the Level 1 magic, and one in the Level 2 magic set for Clerics, and a Cure3 spell in the Level 1 set, but no Cure2. One probably is Cure2, but I haven't experimented enough to figure out which.
Judging by the amount of HP each one restores, Cure1 in the Level 2 spell set seems to actually be Cure2. Cure1 in the Level 1 set is Cure1 and Cure3 is Cure3. Only Cure2 in the Level 2 set was misnamed.

The Arch Mage, Wizard, and Warlock enemies are also represented by a cloaked figure with no head shooting magic from a hand. It's likely this design is an early version of the Arch Mage/Wizard/Warlock that was scrapped, but left in the ROM.

Actually, there is one more weird thing below the Poltergeist enemy, but that really will have to wait for later...

Most likely a placeholder. I can't imagine any other purpose for that and considering how well-drawn the monsters are in this game, I don't think it could possibly be an early version of anything. The fact that there are actually two of them stored in the memory may even be further evidence that it's just filler.

More Unused Stuff:

While the game describes switches being on walls in quite a few spots, I'm pretty sure they are never shown. Yet graphics do exist for them in two different positions.

Lord Kilburn Mystery?

This is pure wild speculation on my part, but I heavily suspect that Kilburn's profile image was not originally intended for him. It shows what appears to be a monster hovering over the remains of a fallen knight or king. I think this was probably meant to be used when you revealed Fake King Alamar's true form. The stuff at the bottom was probably his disguise falling off and the face is the monster's true form being revealed. But since it wasn't used for that purpose, it mysteriously got used for Lord Kilburn, which seems utterly bizarre since we aren't told much of anything about him except that he's living in exile and has knowledge of the desert.

And speaking of profile pic reappropriation:

The way the Cleric of the South is drawn looks suspiciously similar to the style of the unused character profile pics:

It's unmistakable. It was probably originally intended to represent a Cleric in your party.
