Man, this VG Cats is especially horrendous, too. I smiled at the panel with Falcon banging on the window, but otherwise, just dreadful. Even the art seems like
it's been downgraded.

Even the art seems like it's been downgraded.I wonder if he's heard criticism that he was giving his work the Penny Arcade sheen, and was trying to not use it. |

Not only is it not funny and ugly, but its topic (smash bros char cuts) doesn't even have a decent argument. Its just "lol they haven't updated
with captain fulcun he must not be in game lol?". And the part about "don't they owe me more than that"....huuuuh?
Negative 2 out of a possible positive 3. VG Rats further declines into a bog of SUCKITIUDE, doods! And I'll delay YOU, Crawland. O_o
S-G: "Goood morning! How're you?" Kunagi: "Huh? Didn't I kill you?" S-G: "NOPE! Nice try though." Kunagi: "Curses." Musings of a bird |

He says he's working on this Christmas (!) comic on the side, so maybe that's cutting into his work on the regular ones.

See, this is one reason it's hard for me to care about modern games. We're seriously supposed to be on the edge of our seats about ... another Smash
Bros. game? Why can't we just save our money and stick with the ones on the N64 or Gamecube? I guess I'm just sick of videogame sequels in general.
Are we really supposed to speculate on what characters will be in it? But, uh, is it gonna have any effect? Communication is one way here. And they probably have to leave some out so you can speculate on who will be in the *next* one. |

sequels sell. i wonder what characters they're gonna put out in star wars: the force unleashed.

I ain't even clicking those links. I've read enough VG Cats for one lifetime. Now I'm just going to pretend it doesn't exist.

I'm sure everyone is tired of the VG Cats links, but it's like he's trying to suck harder and harder every week. This one isn't even about
anything. And of course, still ugly as sin and as far from funny as one can get.

I do think he's capable of funny comics, and I've obviously been a fan of the comic before. It just seems like a downward spiral lately. I think this
one from October is kind of funny, some kind of anime/Dr. Hobo crossover.
http://www.vgcats.com/comics/images/071029.jpg I think there was a Portal one I posted that wasn't too bad. |

what's that? a lugioh crossover? looks more batshit insane than funny.

But with comments disabled for all but the admins. Glad to see it back, though. Just wondering how long it's really going to last this time, though...or
how much people will stay interested in it. There are so many of those webcomics that are so similar and have the same problems that eventually every article
is going to sound alike.

I figured it was only a matter of time before someone discovered the "Final Fantasy 7 rip-off" comic. I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't
more of those. (Well, Final Fantasy 7 with Breath of Fire 2. Seriously. The picture of the catwoman linked in the part about the "ass-cape",
she's in exactly the same pose as Katt in the BoF2 manual.)

The comments are back on.
There was some talk in the recent comments about this webcomic: http://www.drunkduck.com/Powerup_Comics/ Someone suggested they review it, but John Solomon said it's actually a parody of bad webcomics. I think I'm inclined to agree with his assessment. It's so over-the-top with bad webcomic cliches that it would almost have to be done on purpose. Also, the author never ever acknowledges the commentary on it. It's as though he wants people to take it seriously and make angry replies.

I also love the main heroes' really smarmy "tude" poses.

Okay, I made that post before I read the "Gamerland" storyline. Now I know it's a parody. That seems like a direct spoof of Ctrl+Alt+Del's
"Winter Een-mas" storyline.
Also, I remember one complaint people having about some web cartoonists is that they copy paste too much, and I remember some people countering that complaint by saying, "He DOES draw the characters from scratch every time. It just LOOKS copy-pasted!" This and this have got to be direct parodies of that. The "rough sketch" clearly shows that the characters were drawn in different poses from scratch, but the end result looks copy-pasted...except exaggerated to the ridiculous extreme that they're copy-pasted from different body parts and things like the legs have been chopped off and repasted at different angles.

That's great. I keep noticing new things about it, too. Like, "Mario" still has bulges in his sides where Chug's arms were, because he just
erased some of the lines of the arms (and not all of them -- look above his right hand) but didn't redo the body.
I also love how he didn't even bother to have PS2 look at a drink in the last frame of the "finished" comic. The most recent one that has Google Image Searched backgrounds is not only great in general, but now you can even see text at the bottom that says what the pictures are from. And for "not" Jack Thompson, he's obviously reusing Chug's body AGAIN! |

The kissing scene is great for so many reasons. A subtle one: When he redid Alix's mouth, her coloring there doesn't match the rest of her. It's
more obvious when you turn down the gamma:

I dunno. It seems like a more general statement on Internet Forums. What I love is that he used "Epic Fail" twice and practically three times since "Epic Win" is similar.
