Not sure how Banjo-Kazooie counts as Donkey Kong game, but I guess it's because it was made by rare and features an orange-tossing gorilla. Nice pick for #1, but it's sorely missing Aquatic Ambiance from DKC1. ~ Kairobi King

The songs aren't the worst, though there are some strange choices. The #1 and #3 would be my top two picks.
It's kinda odd doing a list like this, because most of the best songs come from DKC2. I'm surprised to see no Diddy Kong Racing. |

My #1 might be a strange choice, but it might be Fear Factory from the first DKC game.

Hot Top Volcano (DKR) 6. Treetop Rock (DKC1, the treetop, Ewok-village-like stages) 7. Snakey Chantey (DKC2, only used on Rattle Battle and the end of the stage before it) 8. Forest Interlude (DKC2, used in haunted woods stages) 9. Disco Train (DKC2, used in roller coaster stages) 10. T.T.'s Theme (DKR, guilty pleasure!) 11. Water World (DKC3, used in underwater stages) 12. Forest Frenzy (DKC1, used in forest stages such as Vulture Culture) 13. Aquatic Ambiance (DKC1, used in underwater stages) 14. Walrus Cove (DKR) 15. Man, I like a bunch of songs from those games, but I don't have the slightest idea what any of them are called. I think it's kind of lame that they
included BK instead of thinking of one more song. It's like that top 10 NES games that deserve sequels where they threw in Pilotwings for no reason.

Yeah, we have eight songs in common, and they appear largely in the same order, too!
I've found that Diddy Kong Racing's music is more direct and less ambient than the DKC series; Wise's melodies and bass lines are more distinct. (ex: the beginning of Walrus Cove) |

I don't have a top 10 list off the top of my head but the Factory from DK1, Brambles from DK2, and the awesome Treetop from DK3 come to mind. All 3 games
have tons of great songs. I haven't heard the DK3 GBA version yet so I don't know how it compares.

I forgot about the DKC3 tree song....I used to play that on the piano all the time, but I only knew, like, one part :/
Another good song is Ice Cave Chant, the ice level song from DKC1. I might put that at 15 on my list. Funky's themes (in all three DKCs) are also pretty good. |

In DKC1: Robin Beanland: - Funky's Fugue Eveline Fischer: - Simian Segue (map screen song) - Candy's Love Song - Voices of the Temple - Forest Frenzy - Treetop Rock - Northern Hemispheres (snow levels) - Ice Cave Chant Dave Wise did everything else. In DKC3: David Wise: - Dixie Beat (title screen) - Crazy Calypso (menu screen) - Wrinkly's Save Cave (when she's sleeping) - Get Fit A-Go-Go (when Wrinkly is exercising) - Wrinkly 64 (when she's playing Mario 64) - Brothers Bear - Bonus Time (as well as Bonus Win and Bonus Lose) Eveline Fischer did everything else. |
