I didn't have any trouble in the morning, but before I came home, the car was frozen shut. I go so far as to keep all the doors unlocked now, since the problem last year when it was frozen shut for several days. As I recall the problem, the passenger side door can't be opened from outside (it has a problem with the handle) and the driver's side door can't be unlocked from the outside (though the handle works fine).

So, anyway, I theoretically could have had 3 doors to open, and they were all frozen. I ended up heating some water in a beaker and poured a little bit on the rear passenger door, which fortunately worked. I didn't want to do it on the driver's side door, on the assumption that doing this stuff could have damaged the other two doors to begin with. That's also why I used as little water as possible. (If the water doesn't melt the door open, then it just freezes and makes the freeze worse)


But it's bad tidings to have it freeze so early. It's technically not even winter by date, though I define the start of winter to be the first notable snow fall, and it's past that by now.
