Here's my current top 5:

1. Prince
2. Beck
3. David Bowie
4. U2
5. The White Stripes

Not really a permanent list, just what I like most right now. I need to take a long break from hearing anything U2 related. I've listened their albums so often that when I play them, I zone them out and don't even realize I'm listening to music. Has this happened to anyone else? It's really weird.

Hmm as for a favorite band, I don't have much of an idea of exactly who I listen to. While driving I just listen to whatever is on the rock, 80's or dance stations. At home I listen to video game music or my Goddess of Artistic Beauty, Tori Amos.

Hmm... If I took 97% of FO's list, that'd pretty much cover a lot of my favorite bands. Of course, I'm known for my unorthodox internet fandoms, such as the disliking of most sci-fi stuff and the my whole hating of FAIR, the media watchdogs that say they attack partisanship in the media but in reality only attack conservative groups making them big hypocrites in the world of lifestyles of the rich and famous or something. I read that somewhere, I think. Anyway, here's my little old list of my current favorites:

1. Chicago - I really got into them in recent times. Really. They'll probably stay there for a while, or shift places with my second-favorite band a couple of times. Their older jazzy songs hit a lot of childhood memories, and their ballads get my heart all happy and stuff.

2. Foreigner - Can't really explain. They're like the supergroup of supergroups. Yeah...

3. Duran Duran - Early pop music, and it was good. While they were at their best in the 80s, their biggest hit with me was their 90s hit, "Ordinary World". Their comeback earlier this decade wasn't that great. Most bands from yesteryear that try to make a comeback are way past their prime, sans my fourth in the list...

4. Pet Shop Boys - From West End Girls to Domino Dancing to You Only Tell Me You Love Me When You're Drunk, they rock the rockin' rock rock or something.

5. Blue Oyster Cult - This here is filler text, as I've nothing more to say. Oh, and I'm tired.

Actually, "Ordinary World" is just about the only Duran Duran song that doesn't fill me with an odd, pathological urge to hunt down all who were involved in that song's creation. Although, I'm really not sure it was their biggest hit- during the weeks (months?) "Reflex" and "Hungry Like the Wolf" regined supreme on the Top 40 charts, you may remember an sudden, exponential hike in suicide rates in homes with access to TV and/or radio...

You mean little Johnny COUGAR with a COGAR Mellencamp? Bah, he's more the hickish/coutry/inbred type whereas Springsteen is more softish, but still somewhat respectable (I have a hard time considering Li'l Johnny Cougar rock sometimes no matter how many times I hear "S.U.C.K. in the USA").

Actually, to his credit, he's actually a fairly smart guy who does his fair share of fundraising and gives plenty back to the community that builds his house(s) and fills his wallet and stuff (the contractors thought he, like much of his music, would be hickish and he'd be a tad naive, so they thought they'd charge him twice of what was agreed, and he caught em. Good Johnny Boy Cougar). I'd just really rather not hear his stuff on a rock station...

I have pretty broad taste in music. I like music from rock'n'roll stuff like Nirvana, Metallica and Soundgarden, to softer stuff like REM and The Smiths, and if I'm in the mood, some jazz (like Coltrane) or classical (like Vivaldi) or classic (like the Doors). I also like some music FO has exposed me to, though I might not have heard it on my own.

Soundgarden is Alternative Rock.

From now on, I'm calling all music that's like rock, rock'n'roll, because it's the most general and least pretentious description. (I think 'punk' can be kind of pretentious, and 'alternative' is really pretentious, and usually inaccurate besides) Maybe I should just call it rock, but that doesn't have a dorky '50's connotation.

See, that's exactly why I think he's ripping off Bruce Springsteen. Bruce did "Born in the USA", then Mellencamp comes out with "R.O.C.K. in the USA". I really don't like Mellencamp's "Small Town". That song sounds like it was written in about 5 minutes. I'm not even sure how a guy saying, "You can do this in a small town", and "You can do that in a small town" over and over again qualifies as a "song".

You just want to....POST ME! Just like all the others!!

Other than that, I like U2, David Bowie, Nirvana, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Rush, The Offspring, Van Halen, Linkin Park, Dream Theater, and Billy Joel.

i kind of grew listening to that weird al guy. he was pretty funny, pretty good lyrics. i saw him in concert, he had his fat on him when he was singing fat, that was funny too. i wonder why he shaved his moustasche though. im not really a band person, but i like the minibosses, they convert nintendo music into guitar & drums as most of you know. there a lot better than me at covering nint music; i kind of suck at music & im not doing much to improve myself. i deserve a slap in the face...too much nintendo playing has caused to my temporary demise.
