I bought one of the tiny George Foreman grills. It was only $25, so I figured it was worth trying. Haven't used it yet, though.

I got the Wizards and Warriors Fortress of Fear game for Gameboy. Awhile ago, I was trying to beat all the W&W games and I've never played this one
before. I can beat W&W1 and W&W3, but never was able to beat the elementals at the end of Ironsword.
Anyway, I beat the first level. The control is a little better than the NES games, but man is the music obnoxious! |

Got "Phoenix Wright: Justice For All" today at Best Buy. Saw a lot of other tempting games, but I'm trying to exercise self-control. I'll be
buying Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the third Phoenix Wright soon, anyway.

I was at Barnes and Nobles, and noticed they had their little hardbound classics on sale for $3 each. I was tempted to get a bunch, but limited myself to two:
Moby Dick, which I have read before, and The Count of Monte Cristo, which I have not.
When I sat down to look at Monte Cristo, though, I read the translator's foreward, and it seemed really weird. He was lamenting the days when people had more patience, conciseness was not considered an ideal, verbosity was valued for its embellishments, and tales would "interminably" (odd that he chose a word with a negative connotation, though maybe he considers that connotation ironic in his context) keep you occupied for a week, or weeks. I didn't know what the hell that was all about, so I flipped back to the title page and saw that, in the process of translating, the book was abridged. The cover actually says this, but not only did I not even think to look, it was partially concealed by the sale sticker. :/ I double checked Moby Dick after that, and that version does say "Complete and Unabridged". |

Crawl joined the BMG music club awhile ago. Sometimes he gets stuff for me through it, too. So far, I've gotten:
The Very Best of the Doobie Brothers Supertramp - Breakfast in America The reason I got this one is because my Supertramp Classics compilation has a shortened version of "Take the Long Way Home". It fades out and ends before it gets to the last few notes of the song (the last thing you should hear is the harmonica, but it fades before he's even done saying "Long way home..." at the end.) Some people claim it doesn't detract from the song, but for me it definitely does. I'm also surprised at how many of their hits came from this one album (Take the Long Way Home, Breakfast in America, Goodbye Stranger, The Logical Song). U2 - The Joshua Tree U2 - Rattle and Hum I had a bootleg of Joshua Tree on cassette years ago that I lost. I still have the official cassette for Rattle and Hum. I decided get CDs of them since they're both excellent albums. I ordered some other stuff but it hasn't come yet. I also got a bunch of stuff through Amazon, but that hasn't come yet either. Those NES reproductions I ordered should be coming soon, too. |

forgot to mention that i bought arx fatalis and deus ex for about 10 buck each. deus ex seems to be the last great game ion storm made before it folded.
according to nuwen, the original concept was based on ultima underworld and they wanted origin to make it in 1995. arx fatalis was suppose to be underworld 3,
so these 2 games are closely related. and they both have been compared to thief project. according to the thief thread on arx fatalis forum, you can actually
play like garret from thief in arx fatalis.

I had to buy a TV because mine stopped responding to the remote controls again. It's also got a variety of other problems, like the picture getting fuzzy
unless I keep turning it off and on, and taking about 6 seconds to change the channel. I think it's something broken with however it acquires the different
signals.
You wouldn't think it would be hard to find a TV, but apparently nobody wants to sell tube TV's anymore. Two stores I went to only had HDTV's that were not technically out of my price range but offered tiny screens compared to the standard TV of the same price. So I figured K-Mart would be a good place to try. Indeed, there were several televisions on display and one at a great clearance price. After waiting an eternity for help (I work in retail, so I generally try to see things from the employee point of view, but this store has horrendous customer service no matter how you look at it) I found out that they had none of the TV's I wanted in stock. Only about 5 televisions in general were available, all HDTV's, unless she was lying about not having any in the stockroom. So rather than look up more stores and figure out how to get to them, I opted to order online. An expensive option when it comes to shipping something so large and heavy. I found a 24" TV at Walmart's site that looks really good for a great price, although the $40 shipping takes away any value that was there. I'm not sure if I want to use it as a bedroom TV (it is a bit large for the small room) or for the living room. It should be nice for gaming and have decent enough sound that I won't need to hook the game systems up to my shitty little stereo anymore. |

First time I've posted in the wrong thread in a while.
I did end up buying a 10 ounce silver bar, though. I had previously found some small amounts of silver that my dad had bought for me years ago. The shine and weight of it is kind of addictive. |

It's getting close to my brother's birthday. He's turning into a Dragon Warrior fan. He recently beat Dragon Warrior 1 and 2 (apparently both
games in the set) for Game Boy Color. He may have liked DW1 more. He also told me he might have liked Dragon Warrior Monsters more than some Pokemon games
(maybe the earliest ones), though he also told me that its level building might have been a little more tedious.
What he specificially asked for for his birthday was Dragon Warrior 3 for Game Boy Color. FO and I went on a game hunt today. At the first place they had a black Sports Dreamcast. At first I just noticed that because it looked nice. But then I remembered that my brother told me that his Dreamcast doesn't work, at least not for playing actual Dreamcast games. That's as opposed to playing things on CD, like NESter DC, which it can still do. It also might have only been about half as much what we paid for his white Dreamcast. So, I picked that up for him. Hopefully, that works! I haven't tried it yet. At the other place we went to during the game hunt, I saw Dragon Warrior Monsters 2. Since he might have liked the first one, I got him that also. It is the girl's verison. Oh, well, he's stuck with it! It's not even unique in our family. FO said she got Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 when Kay Bee went out of business, but she also got the girl's version. No one had Dragon Warrior 3, so I'll have to get him that online. |

I should probably get CD versions of some of my favorite albums, too. I mostly just have cassettes and a few vinyls and I don't buy music that often
anymore.
Aside from that I just bought the Animaniacs Volume 1 DVD set. |

We finally got The Guess Who Anthology. When Crawl ordered it, I guess they were temporarily out-of-stock and it took awhile to arrive.
I also got Linda Ronstadt Winter Light. That'll be the last of my Linda Ronstadt stuff for awhile. I'm just waiting on a Bob Geldof CD now. |
