Pepper loves the new bed. She's been in it almost all night. She purrs very loudly when I pet her.

Cute!

One good thing about having other cats besides Lady is that if they didn't make her grouchy and walk off sometimes, she would never leave me alone in the
morning and make it difficult for me to get ready for work. I appreciate the love she gives me (and she's a very affectionate cat), but she's
constantly underfoot, which slows me down, and rubbing up against my legs, which leaves piles of cat hair stuck to my pants. One morning I spent about 10
minutes with a lint roller getting cat hair off my clothes and several moments later she walked up to me and without any warning, just rubbed my legs, getting
me all full of hair again. I was running late and had no time to deal with it, so I took the lint roller to work with me and got it off after I arrived.

Sheesh! Pepper was in the bed when I left this morning, and she was there when I came home, and she's there now. She's not even getting out to beg for
dinner. She's probably been there all day.
Dammit, Mel and Hermes keep trading nose scratches. Hermes scratched Mel's face above her nose a few days ago, and today when I came home, Hermes has a scratch in the same spot on his face. I don't have the heart to return Hermes to the shelter as I've had him too long to bear seeing him locked up in a cage again, but I'm really starting to think he just doesn't belong here. I almost wish I could give him to somebody who has no other pets. |

We've still been losers about taking (or not taking) Mel and Hermes to the vet. Maybe we can do that this weekend.

We're kind of worried about Pepper. Right now she's just lying on the floor -- not even in the bed. And she hasn't been eating or begging for her
wet food.

Well, she did get into the bed. And she's been alert, at least.
It's not out of character for her to not be active. And we know that when she discovers a new favorite sleeping place, she can get obsessed with it. So, she just wants to lie in the bed for hours or days. As for the wet food, I don't know. FO is suggesting that maybe Pepper's becoming more fussy, and only really likes the seafood stuff. |

Wow! Lady is finally learning how to stand up to Hermes. This is the second time I heard her "lion roar" come from the basement, and when I went to
see what happened, Hermes rocketed past me and she was acting proud of herself. In this case, she was actually running after him, but stopped when she reached
the living room. Hermes rocketed all the way upstairs.
I feel bad for him, though. I didn't see what happened, so I don't know if he actually did anything to her and sometimes when she's grumpy with him, he's not doing anything wrong. But on the other hand, it's probably good that she can vocally scare him off rather than try to do what Mel does (which she can't do because she has no front claws). Unfortunately, Mel doesn't have a scary roar like Lady's, or at least I've never heard her make any noise like that. Pepper is still acting out of it. Someone ate the Fancy Feast I put out for her this morning, but I don't know if it was her, Lady, or Hermes. |

Lady also vomited earlier. Not food, or even a hairball. Just a lot of "water".

Sounds like she just drank too much water. She's been fine since I came home. I ate a leftover beef hot dog (without bun) when I came home and as I was
eating it, I felt something grab my arm and try to pull it down. I looked and there was Lady grabbing at my arm with her paw, trying to pull the hot dog down
to where she could get it. I broke off a piece and gave it to her and she ate it.
If Pepper doesn't show improvement by tomorrow, I'm gonna have to call the vet... She ate a little bit of dinner, but not much. She's been looking out the front window off and on. At one point, her and Mel were looking out the window side-by-side. |

They might have had a mild bug.

Lady just threw up again. Some liquid stuff that isn't water. If I hadn't seen her do it, I wouldn't have known that she did it in one corner; it
was hard to see where the spot was on the carpet.

Yesterday I made a vet appointment for Pepper, but she seems back to normal today, so I canceled it. I laid down on the futon with her this morning and she
climbed onto my chest and took a nap. Eventually Mel crawled onto my legs, so I took a nap with two kitties on me.

Was it the greatest moment of your life?

Probably.
I did make an appointment for next weekend to get Mel and Hermes's claws trimmed. That oughtta be fun. Lady now likes to sleep in one of the small towers in the dining room. She pretty much completely fills the circle. Sometimes she also gets on top of the small house and she's really too big for it... so she looks like a muffin top.

Man, cats get really embarrassed when poop gets stuck to their asses. Mel hisses at me if I go near her when poop is stuck her butt, Pepper tries to run away,
and Lady...she just had her first incident with us. She wouldn't even let me look at her without growling and
snarling. I didn't even know what her problem was at first, but she seemed to be more upset than her usual grumpiness... and I noticed her holding her tail
down and bending her back legs in a squatting position when she was standing still. Eventually, she ran into the domed litterbox and came back out and somehow
she got it off while she was in there. She still snarled at me for a little while when I'd look at her, though.

I re-purposed the second bedroom over the past couple of night, and Hermes liked that. I think he thought I was playing and was running around, too.
Last night (almost this morning), FO heard Pepper tearing up paper downstairs (she almost completely destroyed one of FO's Equinox maps, but FO had already finished with it). I had thought Pepper did that as some sort of hunter's instinct thing, but FO thought Pepper did it because she was upset. She brought her upstairs to bed and that calmed her down. To clarify, when I first go through a dungeon in Equinox, I draw a very rough, sloppy map that I eventually have to redo. The scans on the site are the second
maps I draw based on the rough maps. She chewed up a rough map for Afralona, which I didn't need.
Man, Lady's been flopping and rolling like crazy since I came home. She seems a lot happier now that she's not spending all of her time in the sun room. |
