I was watching early morning television yesterday.. and seen Jack Hanna doing some gig for a couple who ran their own animal sanctuary for the community.
The couple would take in animals that had been abandoned or injured for later release into a habitat.

Anyways...Jack had an owl(?) swoop over his head, got excited and blurted out something like - did you know that owls are called 'the bird of soundless flight?' -the couple giggled afterwards if I remember right.

Then that reminded me of things, including one time about a year ago when I was out searching for any stray cats that had any information....
On my way back from the closest gas station, I took the path beside the hotel that is just a big field with one tree, because I had noticed something up in it.
I walked past an owl.
It flew off when I was approaching ...over the hotel... and I thought that it had just gone back to the woods behind my apartment complex.

So I got back to my porch about five minutes later...and lit up a cigarette.
Stood there smoking and then almost before it had caught my eye, an owl, possibly the same one, swooped down about three feet in front of me and about 10 feet in the air!
It made a dramatic change in direction when it flew up past my roof and as it did so, I got to see just how big an owls' wingspan really is.

I've got to go outside more.
