I've no idea what to think of this dream.
I had a dream where Frying Bear was active again and had a blog where he played a different game every day and rambled a little about it; it was frequently updated until he played some Japan-only platformer, wherein he stopped updates and even other accounts he had (YouTube and so on) said he hadn't signed on since the day he made that post. Being Japanese I didn't know the title, but most of the text was otherwise in English. The graphics were kinda like a mix of the SEGA Ghostbusters game and Kato & Ken for the PC Engine, where squat chunky bodies had large detailed/semi-realistic heads, but the faces would often exaggerate to rather frightening levels, like what would look amusing as a cartoon, then recreated with a photo-realistic face. The blog post mentioned that the game was only produced in limited amounts and was meant to be released to the US, but it didn't make it.

The game was set out like a series of challenges like boss fights and whatnot, wherein apparently the main character's daughter had been kidnapped and you played the dad trying to get her back; the front side of his house was normal, but the back side was monstrous and twisted, with a typically haunted mansion style exterior despite the front being a single-story house, with decaying green stairs inside that looked like they were composed of flesh (green flesh!) leading to various doors. There were some cutscenes that involved outside the house, wherein he talks to his wife (who remains jovial despite knowing her daughter is kidnapped) and goes to an abandoned mine in the desert for the sole purpose of getting a weapon.
I can't remember all the challenges, but one was this crookedly-shaped old guy in a small room with a gigantic harp, which had one broken string. He'd play random strings until he hit the broken one, creating a bad sound that would slowly escalate into total earrape noise, combining other sounds such as a plane crashing and a baby's wail (and even a sample of the "number 9" repeat from Revolution 9, which really helped the bizarre atmos'), all in SNES sound format. When it reached the worst it could get, he would pinball around the room at completely ludicrous speeds (too fast to even avoid in advance, but somehow he never hit me) and explode, leaving his foot behind for some reason. Amusingly, the pause screen would have hints during challenges; sometimes they were in untranslated Japanese, but at that point it just said "OH CRAP!!" in large colour-cycling text. Kinda unnecessary given how easy it was. Some other hints seemed to have unnecessary swearing, which only made it that more surreal.

Another room was a generic platformer through a slimy place (like the area with the snails in Metal Slug 3) and had zombies that ripped in half when killed, even if you stomped on them (I think the default weapon was a metal pipe). It was kinda Metal Slug style grotesque, except since the sprites were twice the size, more gory detail, such as eyes falling out of sockets as they toppled backwards, arms being crushed to mush beneath their weight, and entrails that flopped around as if trying to reconnect with the upper body. Another animation had the head being crushed and the flesh dripping off as if it were a cream pie to the face. Really weird stuff, which only made the claim it was to be released in the US more hilarious.
The very last stage was a strange 3D segment set in two rooms with four windows in each and the daughter at the far side of one; a big-headed ghost would fly in through the window periodically to attack you or grab the girl, and you had to hit him with a vacuum cleaner (not suck him up, just hit him with it). hitting the window before he appeared would send a banshee hurtling in your direction, while hitting the floor would send lethal frogs leaping out of it. Theoretrically, the 3D stuff was done in a manner like the Doom games, but somehow looked much better; it was full-screen, the textures were barely pixellated, and the graphics were huge so they never looked blocky up close. There was some pretty weird details, like the one time I looked closely at a window, there was a friggin' whale flying outside (it was just pitch black out there otherwise), and when lightning flashed an image of a skeleton cowboy on a horse appeared on a window. It was friggin' outlandish stuff.

After that was the ending, where, of course, the daughter is saved and the two of them ascend the stairs back to the kitchen where the wife casually asks her daughter how her day was, but outside the window a zombie walks past, and as the father and daughter left the room some monsters made their way up the stairs, turning the wife into a monster without so much as a sound or recognising them. The view cuts to an aerial view of the house, where lots of monsters are seen making their way out of the back and into the streets, turning other houses into similar horror houses, as the camera zoomed out Mode7 style to show the whole neighbourhood swarming in monsters. It still had the jolly and uplifting ending music during the whole thing, and after it faded to black the "END" text appeared, with the grinning face of the ghost in the 3D segment next to it.
Of course, the bigger twist is that after I finished playing the game, I looked out the window and saw that same ghost there, grinning at me in the same manner, with a zombie walking past behind him. It's not cool to have a dream like that when that window is the first thing I wake up to every morning.

I had an odd dream last night where Galvatron and I were sharing a villa on a Carribean peninsula, but there was also a reality show taking place there, with about eight morons doing stuff for attention and a host who would comment on the events and present challenges to them - never saw any camera crew, strangely enough. Galv and I would just be playing some KoF (I actually put up a mild fight so it was pretty obvious it was a dream) and then some guy would enter the room and call for everyone to look at him while he hurled himself at a washing machine. Galv and I seemed to be entirely unrelated to the show itself, but sometimes we'd be called upon to give a second opinion of the events that we didn't pay attention to. The host would always ask "is there any way we can change your opinion?" when we criticised it, which I found amusing.
For whatever reason, I imagined Galv as being about 7 feet tall, and his appearance would change a little every time I saw him, though the most notable was when he had a pencil moustache. Then it shifted to Galv and I going to a store which had clothes, games and action figures. There was a shirt that said "I am a sweet and successful webmaster, and I'd like to do sex to you. My number - ###-#######" and had a bespectacled grinning cartoon face on it. The tag indicated it was part of a clothing line that I had made.
I was kinda disgusted with myself.
I think that's the second time Galv has been involved in one of my dreams. I'll let him decide if that's awkward or not.
