The awesome thing is that a huge part of the game takes place inside of Bowser (he got inhale powers from a strange mushroom) and that section of the game is a sidescroller!! True, it's not like a Mario action game, but it's so nice to see 2D used in such a big way in such a major release. I actually get an almost Metroid vibe when I open up the map screen, especially combined with the alien environment of Bowser's body. It certainly doesn't seem like it's going to be linear left to right exploration the whole way. You also control Bowser on the overworld and it looks like his parts will be a little more like the other two Mario & Luigi games, except it seems he can't jump. He can punch rocks and burn down trees with his flame breath, though. I dunno, there hasn't really been very much of this so far, but I imagine it'll be a pretty big part of the game, too. The combat system seems like it was converted directly from the previous games, but thankfully you don't have four freaking characters and buttons to manage. The graphics are bright and colorful. More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I started reading A Spell of Chameleon, and so far it's just been a history lesson broken up by awkwardness. So, there's this magic land named Xanth. Everyone in Xanth can use some kind of magic, from uselessly making holograms to turning anything into anything else. And there's the hero, Bink, who has no magic that anyone can tell, and has to find some before he's exiled. The first chapter is Bink's history - he cut off his middle finger, he was picked on, blahblahblah. The second chapter is Bink riding a female centaur while she goes on and on about the history of humans coming to Xanth, and one awkward moment where the centaur made a jump and while scrambling to keep his hold Bink accidentally grabs one of her boobs. Yeah, that's the first fourty or fifty pages summed up right there.

More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	FFCC: My Life as a King - I just unlocked the tavern and made a non-Clavat party. Unsurprisingly, this party (which is composed of characters at average levels compared to my other players) is very well-composed. All jobs are represented by characters that not only live next to their respective job buildings (which helps adventurer stats) but they are forced to be those particular professions so they naturally came predispositioned to be good. I'm having fun filling out my town. I'm going for a 100% full kingdom, and it looks like I'll be able to pull it off. Rune Factory - Got the Rune Sword, so I have complete Rune and Chaos weapon sets. The Chaos Sword is easily better because it has drain abilities and does other nifty stuff. Rune Shield is the superior shield because of the simple defense stats. Still haven't defeated Grimoire. I'm getting to that point, though.

I really hate SearchIndexer. It updates at random times and there doesn't seem to be any way to stop it. Even if I end the process, it comes right back. I wonder if I can uninstall that thing. Posts: 215 (10/14/09 7:16 AM) More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	More Metroid Prime, got the Wave Beam, Super Missiles and Thermal Visor, and encountered my first few Metroids in the Space Pirate research lab. I've also read halfway through Graham Masterton's Night Warriors, and it's only now that the main characters have just started Night Warrior-ing. The book has a gripping beginning that's almost like a supernatural mystery story, but then the tone changes when the main characters are revealed to be descendants of devil hunters and are tasked with going about into people's dreams to track down some demon who's spreading his monster eel devil sperm around (it makes a little more sense in context). I'm still sticking with it, but I am a little disappointed that the beginning had such a brilliant vibe, and now that it's turned to fantasy it doesn't quite entice me as much, though the the lengthy dream rape sequences and awkward sexuality theme are rather off-putting, to put it lightly.

Got the blue crystal after buying the white crystal and stumbling into another town. Since it's been roughly two decades since I've played this game and I can't recall most of it (FO's Oddities are the most exposure I've had to it), I'm just going to "faff about" without any real guidance or direction, just like I did in my youth. FFCC: My Life as a King - I just completed Day 100, a holiday. I have all the bakeries and an emporium, so now my adventurers have more equipment, I have more things to fund, and I can upgrade to the highest level of kingdom possible (which opens up additional behests and things to do). I also have the inn now, which allows traveling adventurers to join my current ones. And there's still plenty to explore and unlock.

Okay, before I was hesitant to call this my least favorite DS game, but NO MORE. It's just frustrating, not because of any legitimate challenge, but because it's really bad. Bad level design, bad programming, slippery controls, and a camera that's never where you need it to be. Now I'm stuck on a boss that's total bullshit. You have to shoot down evil acorns while being hounded by bats that are continuously respawning and he can knock you off the platforms into more enemies that are continuously respawning and there's no way to predict when he'll do that and if you try to jump to avoid it you jump into the bats and it's all so unbearable. As expected, it's garbage. The movement controls and physics are wonky as fuck, and I cannot count the times I tried to grab a thin wobbling rope and try to attach it to something only to tap the background and have Maxwell run straight into a pit. And because 99% of the shit you could create is impractical, you tend to use the same combinations over and over. Yes, I could conjure up a head of lettuce, a pile of puke, a CD player, and a can of baked beans, but how's any of that going to help me get a diamond guarded by wolves? And you can move the camera around the stage, but it returns to Maxwell in about three seconds and if you need to do a lot of work in another area, and you will unless you want to get beaten to death by lollipops thrown by a witch, you have to keep moving it around/back. It's been pretty solid, although the Bowser half of the game is probably the weaker half. He's great to watch as a character, but his simplistic (at least so far) one-person battles and somewhat tedious overworld exploration drag the game down a little. Exploration usually amounts to punching and/or burning everything you can while annihilating anything that dares to fight you. I know something new and possibly exciting might be coming up pretty soon, however... Sometimes Bowser will have to do something that would be physically challenging like lift something REALLY heavy or eat a giant carrot (for real) and Mario & Luigi have to play a mini-game inside of Bowser to help him succeed. Also Bowser got a parasite (lol!) from inside that same carrot and Mario & Luigi had to kill it. Just thought that was funny. The boss battles in this game can be kind of different. Sometimes you'll have to use your inhale power on a boss. This might, for example, make bowser inhale the boss's helpers or something. In this case, you switch to the bottom screen where Mario & Luigi take it on, and control is returned to Bowser when you're done. Mario & Luigi's attacks so far are basically the same deal as in the other M&L games, just not as complicated as with the babies. I just have the shell kick and fireball moves right now. Bowser on the other hand uses the stylus for his special moves (of which I only have one). He unleashes a bunch of Goombas and you have to tap them to light them on fire (lol! again) and then they do more damage when they make contact with the enemy. Aside from special moves, Mario & Luigi can jump or use their hammers and Bowser can (once again) punch or breath fire. So far the sidescrolling areas are definitely better. They graphics are a little more alien as opposed to bright and colorful... it's inside Bowser's body afterall... but they're just more puzzle oriented and have more challenging combat. More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Oh wow, I think Scribblenauts is the first DS game I ever got to freeze. I went into the store, tapped the checkerboard area around the "Soundtrack" and "Avatar" bars wondering if there was another set of options (I've already bought everything in the game, still have a ton of money, and two more areas to clear out), and it crashed. 99% of this game's difficulty comes not from working out a solution, but trying to get the physics and controls to work. In one level the star was positioned between three spike platforms that came together when I walked left, and this took me forever to do because tying a rope to a metal crate or a box and nothing else would pull the crate/horse down the pit, or I'd accidentally tap the background and the ADHD sufferer in a stupid hat would run and set off the trap, or the rope would randomly rip for no apparent reason.

I disabled SearchIndexer, uninstalled some programs I never use, and now I'm transferring a bunch of files to a CDR to free up space on the hard drive. When I'm done, I'm going to defrag the harddrive and then try watching my RGB DVD again. If it still lags, I'll run a complete virus scan, but I'd be surprised if I have any viruses or spyware because Webroot is usually good at catching them. www.flyingomelette.com
