You know, I've noticed other people are obsessed with making rules. Like, Loogaroo had a page on proposed game show ideas, and they all had insanely complicated rules.

And what was the most popular real game show at the time? Who Wants to be a Millionaire. A show whose basic rules are incredibly simple -- it's just a multiple choice quiz. Even the complicating stuff, like the lifelines and the thresholds for keeping money, were fairly simple.

The other thing you didn't talk about was how that one person in that topic said Donkey Kong 64 didn't deserve a shrine. Man, you can tell he didn't even look at it. It's not really a typical shrine, so much as explanations of some glitches, arcade high scores, and a humorous essay on Chunky Kong, and all of that stuff is interesting and worth reading about even if you don't like the game that much.

Another thing about that is there even could be room to make a fully-dedicated website for that game (although obviously I didn't like the game enough to go quite that far with it), because I get search strings every day in my tracker for people wanting maps, banana locations, banana fairy locations, boss strategies, and where to find the other Kongs (people seem to especially have trouble finding Tiny).

She's like the only person on internet that actively seeks out anyone who mentions her and attacks them.

This statement really says a lot more about him than it does me. Because if I truly am the only person you've ever seen respond to things said about them on the internet, than you have not been on the internet very long, and you only regularly visit a handful of sites. As I've said many times before, I'm not even a particularly bad person when it comes to that sort of thing. At least I keep it to my own site, unlike the "wars" I saw between competing ezboard and NES Scene factions.

I have seen a few instances of people trying on purpose to get my attention aside from this one and I ignored them. I think one amounted to something like, "Hey, Flying Omelette! Kiss my balls!", and the other I don't remember now.

I was thinking about this lately...

While the thought did occur to me that people trying on purpose to get into the STA's or even people getting mad about them may cause an increase in this kind of behavior, I've actually noticed a huge drop-off since I started writing them. I don't know if the STA's account entirely for it, but I know for a fact that at least one message board activated protection when I threatened to go after them for something, people deleted posts from StumbleUpon, and that YWiB blog deleted postings I was linking to in the Phish From a Pond sketch (which is weird, since YWiB wasn't my target, it was certain stupid commentors that were attacking YWiB).

But before I was writing the RAU Gallery, I'm not exaggerating when I say that I used to see stupidity in my inbox and site tracker on almost a daily basis. Now I rarely get anything worth mentioning.

Maybe he just deleted them because they were stupid. He said it was because of the comments that he quit writing the blog.

It seems highly-suspicious to me that they went back several articles and deleted those specific posts and those specific posts only.

And as for him quitting the blog because of the comments... He once said that he felt the comments that were in favor of the blog were worse than the negative comments, and basically the only comments he wanted were ones that pointed out bad things about the comics that he missed in his reviews.

It's like once they saw what they were up against, they got really scared off.

The first time I ever clicked on a link to that site, all I got was a mustard-yellow screen and I had to move the cursor around to make the different sections appear. That was exactly what VividImagination's front page was like, so it seemed likely it was the same group of people. When I mentioned that in my updates, they completely changed the design. (Again, just like VI.) But then they tried to say they didn't have any idea who Thawhidol was. Um, okay. Even if they aren't VI and even if they are VI and forgot who Thawhidol was, how could you have read our site (like they claimed to have done) and NOT know who he is? DH only wrote like 9 million game ideas and several DBDH Arena sketches about him.

So, yeah, either they were VI or they were a random group of dipshits trying to be the next 4chan who bit off WAY more than they could chew.

Huh. I guess I don't check our stats often enough. I knew about the first incident with that site, but if I had known they were trying to escalate it, I may have attempted my own STA. (Though maybe it's for the best that I didn't since I don't think I'd be too good at it.)

Yeah, it's amazing how truly spineless and cowardly a lot of internet lamers really are.

Damn. I didn't realize how egocentric I sounded in that post until just now. It's not like I think what I do is necessarily all that special or difficult to accomplish. But just having plain old common sense is too much to ask for a lot of people.

I didn't actually see what they said, but I can imagine someone coming to our site out of nowhere and wondering, "Who the hell is this Thawhidol guy that they have so many articles about him?"

I don't remember their exact words now, but they were definitely trying to say they had never even heard the name before - strange for people who had claimed to have actually read our entire site and were sending us emails telling us how much it sucked.

And how much more do you really need to know about him than what DH's game ideas and sketches describe? He was just a typical forum troll.

This is only tenuously-related, but I read an article lately where some psychiatrist was going on and on about how Obama has all of these mental problems because his father abandoned him when he was 2, blah, blah, his parents were different races, which is "stressful", blah, blah, and basically the entire gist of the article could be summed up as, "If you've had any adversity in your life, you shouldn't overcome it. You should sit in a corner and cry about it and have no confidence in yourself."

I've dealt with people like that in my own personal (I remember how some teachers and school nurses insisted I had problems because of a family member who was "sick when she was little", even though I wasn't even born during that time, had very little knowledge of it, and it never personally affected me), and it seems like that's what a lot of people on the internet expect everyone else to be like.
