I just returned to my hotel. Maybe I'll watch some Office, and head back in a couple of hours.

Gave a final rehearsal talk for co-author approval. I think it's possible that my talk has had the least amount of interference. The only thing that changed much from 1.0 to 2.0... was that they wanted me to add more text to my slides. Which I guess is okay, since it reduces the possibility of forgetting something I wanted to say, but on the other hand my preference is not to have slides that are as busy as some people's.


Some people in our group were talking about seeing Star Trek in Imax tomorrow anyway. I told them that when I went there, it seemed it only showed in the evening; earlier in the day, it was just nature IMAX films. We'll see...

For lunch today, I went to the Hard Rock cafe. I didn't look around much, but the memorabilia that most caught my eye was this keyboard smashed by Nine Inch Nails.

This is a Randy Rhodes guitar, but I think he died before they were ever finished and he got a chance to play them.



Here's what I got for lunch. Does this look like it's worth $13.00?




The burger and fries were okay, though overpriced, but the service was slow and poor. They refilled my soda only once (with a spicy burger!), and the soda was watered down and funny tasting. Ugh. I was not impressed. I was thinking of getting a t-shirt but decided against it.

At least they didn't just play Aerosmith songs over and over. They played something by INXS, Sunday Bloody Sunday (U2), something that starts with a W by Depche Mode, Sympathy for the Devil (Rolling Stones), that song about waiting for the world to change that I hate, Our Lips are Sealed (the Go Gos) and several by bands I never heard of.


After the conference, we went to China town.



Full. We went to a Malaysian place (something like the banana leaf) which was in view of that arch, though I'm not sure if you can see it in the picture. I had chicken with rice, the chicken served at room temperature, which was weird, but okay. One guy had mango chicken, and he shared a lot. The best, though, was the sushi. We got 4 or so different kinds and shared. I picked the lobster tempera, which was excellent.

Somehow, I missed this before tonight. On the way back to the hotel, one block from where I'm staying, I saw this.



Full. According to Wikipedia, Philadelphia has the most toynbee tiles of any city. There might even be another on the route between my hotel and the convention that I missed before.

Oh, god. I think the plan now is for us to have lunch here at 1:30. We're never gonna fucking get home.

Well, I'm back. I'm pretty tired since I did most of the driving back tonight myself.
