It's like those pictures of a cat looking at a picture of a cat looking at a picture of cat.

Crap! My beautiful ASCII art! It is ruined by auto-formatting!
Just mentally picture that vertical bar two spaces to the right. |

I've actually tried getting a refund from Amazon, but they won't deal with me. Just state that I have to contact the publisher. Ziff Davis said they
refund me through Amazon somehow, but that hasn't come through.
I e-mailed discover regarding the issue, but it doesn't sound like I'd get anywhere without actually talking to a live person. It's only 10 bucks, but still. |

Then you could sit on the john and read about what might be good to read on the john in the future. But what if the magazine picked itself? too existential. try a dilbert comic collection. |

I got Discover to start an investigation of the charge, anyway.

When Gamefan was killed, editor Eric Mylonas claimed it killed while it was still profitable. So, what's up with that?
Well, one of the "unobvious" principles of economics is, even if something's profitable, you might not want to waste resources on it that could be used on something that's more profitable. I suppose that only applies in the case of finite resources, though. If you only have one factory, you want it to make your most profitable product. How it would apply to journalism (which does not seem to be a finite resource), it becomes pretty unobvious again. I'm not sure if that's what the issue with Gamefan or not, but maybe it was for EGM (if 1up.com etc was more profitable than the print magazine). If so, a separate owner could try reviving it. Gamefan was never revived as such, but I think Play magazine had some of the same staff. |

Some GameFAN staff went to Play and some went to Hardcore Gamer Magazine, which was started after Play.

Then there was GameGO, which lasted a whole issue.

Wow! This is the first I've heard about this. I normally don't give a crap about game magazines, but I had noticed some time ago that stores around
here no longer carried EGM on their magazine racks anymore

Here's some more
info.
I kind of miss EGM and I'd probably check out the reincarnation. My interest in gaming is on the low side these days, but I like keeping up with what's happening, and don't really enjoy browsing sites like IGN and Gamespot to do it. |

So, did EGM just pull an "I'm leaving forever!!", only to return a short while later gig?

No.

I'm a wee bit interested in this revival since I was always under the impression that it'd been years since EGM had anything to do with anyone from
it's early days.
Of course, unless it's loaded with murky screenshots of import games I thought I'd never get to play or talking about how awesome it is that a game has 16 Megs it won't be the EGM I fondly(?) remember. |

I wanna go back in time, to 1993, to the office of any game magazine.
"Guys, you don't even wanna know how many Megs the games have in the future." They would shit if they knew. |

The funny thing is, they already had CD games with 5200 megs before then.
That reminds me, one of the first things I saw on nintendo.com was a review of Super Metroid, and, for the cons, it said even 24 megs of Metroid wasn't enough.
