The last dream I had I was running along the surface of a weird rocky planet where the sky was all dark and Samus Aran's ship was several thousand feet
ahead of me. I kept running to get to it so I could escape the planet but when I got there Samus was inside and she told me I couldn't go because I was
already on earth. The ship took off and I was left there unconvinced this was earth but then I drew the conclusion that this must be future earth where the
environmental destruction caused by people had changed everything into a barren rocky place. I wondered what to do next and woke up.

I had a dream the other night that Mel got out of the house and I didn't know it until I looked at the picture windows and saw her outside. That was the
only part of the dream I remember.

I managed to have at least one dream between the second time Pepper woke me up and the third time she woke me up (just now). I dream often about my old house
in NJ. I've lived in four different places (that house, very briefly at Crawl's mother's apartment, our old apartment that got hit with the fire,
and this one), and I still think I liked that house the most of all places I lived. Unfortunately, my parents made it impossible to live there as an adult.
I think the reason I had this dream is because I was looking at houses for rent and for sale in our area online last night. |

I've lived in over ten places, I guess, but only dream about a few. I don't think I even dream about my original house as much as I dream about my
grandmother's old house. A lot of the places I don't dream about at all.

I always have reoccurring dreams about being in very large malls and/or arcade rooms that don't look anything like any I've ever actually been to in
real life. I had another one of those last night, but I can't remember much about it. One thing that happens a lot of times in the "mall"
versions of the dream is that a music store is going out of business, and I look through the selection of discounted CDs and there's nothing interesting.

I dreamed that Crawl and I moved into a new apartment complex that had an unused basement underneath that had been closed off years ago, although the building
owners were attempting to reopen it and renovate it. The reason it was probably closed off is because it was one huge shared basement (which wouldn't work
in reality, since it was too easy for stuff to get stolen.)
For some reason the dream didn't explain, we were babysitting DJ at our new place (just DJ, none of Crawl's family's other cats). He must have been having trouble getting along with some of our own cats and went to find a place to hide from them. He disappeared and we couldn't find him. We theorized that he may have found a way into the basement, and indeed that's where he went. It turned out that the building owners, in order to renovate the basement, had been using the entrance from our apartment and they left it open. We went down to get DJ, and we saw a cat and assumed it to be him, but when we got close, it growled at us and ran away, and we saw that it was actually gray, not black and white like DJ. At first, we didn't think much of it, it was like, "Oh, there's a cat down here. Must have come from one of the other apartments." So we kept looking for DJ and found him on an old bed, hiding underneath some blankets. At that point, we noticed that the gray cat wasn't the only other cat down there. There were, in fact, dozens of feral cats living in a huge colony, and there were a few kittens under the blankets with DJ. We took DJ back up to our apartment, but somehow all the feral cats followed us back and got into our house. As much as I liked them and would have liked to have kept them, there were WAY too many, so we got a bunch of boxes and cat carriers and were trying to capture all of them. We had to be careful because some of them looked so similar to DJ, Hermes, and Pepper that we had to be careful not to capture them instead of the ferals. We also were aware that we had to be careful that any calicos we capture were not Caramel (the dream implied that Mel was around, although I don't recall ever actually seeing her. Pepper, Hermes, and DJ were all out walking amongst the other cats. Maybe Mel was hiding.) Anyway, some of the cats we captured before the dream ended included: A cat that was mostly black, but had some traces of Russian blue in it. The dream implied that this cat was the mother of some of the kittens, and for some reason, we named her "Chicago", but I don't know why. A very fat kitler. Looked like a cat I once knew named "Jimmy", except Jimmy didn't have the kitler mustache. A very fat, deep orange tabby that only had half a tail. A cat that was green. I know that doesn't make any sense, but its fur was yellow with a green tint. And several small tabby kittens. There was one kitten that had a reddish back, and a very short pink tail that I was considering keeping. I was worried that the shelter wouldn't take so many cats and what we'd do with them all if they wouldn't, because we already had about 8 trapped by the time the dream ended and there were still a lot more running around. |

I'm starting to dream again, but my memories of them are still rather fragmented.
A couple of nights ago I had one about riding a school bus and some people said they hated hair and I said that was the stupidest thing I ever heard. Then I think I had one last night about people trying to kill us or something but we corralled them into a basement of some derelict house and captured them one by one. I think there was more to it than that that I can't remember. Our cats might show up in my dreams sometimes. Longer ago, I had some dream about being in a food court (at a mall or a large school) and there might have been someone famous there because there were huge crowds... I can't remember much about that one, though. I have a recurring dream (I had it again last night) where I'm driving a car and the brakes don't work, and I usually having to put my entire weight on
the brake just to get it to slowly decelerate. Does that mean I subconsiously fear getting into an accident because my brakes are shot?

I took a nap today and had a couple of dreams.
One was about a guy who found a baby dragon and was raising it in a closet. He had a meddling kid and wife who were trying to figure out what he was doing when he was spending time with the dragon. During the dream, I was thinking of it as a "Stephen King" story, maybe because I thought of meddling relatives as being a common theme in his stories. Then there was a dream about a suffering community in California. Actually, the families there were well-off (the houses and yards were huge), but had almost biblical things happen to them. Once, their neighborhood might have been pelted with rocks from the sky. Another time, it rained and rained and rained. It never flooded, because they were up in mountains or hills and the water had a place to drain, but they were losing soil and were worried about landslides. There was also some weird little imp character who would sometimes appear and may have been related to their misfortunes. |

I had a brief dream about 24 last night. Jack was trying to have a meeting with somebody in a diner in a mall, but people kept pouring in both entrances.
He'd yell at them, "Get out of here!" but then there'd be a dozen more that came in the other way. Eventually, he had to have his secret
meeting in the open mall and just whisper.

I had another dream this morning about driving through the mountains on a crazy road. This time, there was a hill the road went over, but the hill was just a
bunch of stacked blocks, which weren't even solid in the center. The whole thing fell apart and I couldn't go on so I had to stay in the nearby
village.
There was a lot more that happened, but that's what I remember the most. |

Last night I had a dream that we were living in the new house already and I adopted "Baby" from the cat shelter. She was sitting on a windowsill and
I was calling her "Rosie". (If I ever really did adopt her, I would have to change her name. I don't like "Baby". I don't even
think that name fits her. She doesn't look like a kitten. She looks like a Lynx.)

I had a dream several nights ago that I was watching a Scorsese film that came before The Departed (which turns out to not exist). One part had some vampire
creature put someone in a headlock, then use their vampire claws / fingernails to tear the person's head off.
I've had some dreams since then, but I should have written them down earlier, because I've already forgotten them! |

I had a dream last night that I played a sport / game where you're in a room (like a bedroom) and jump from furniture to furniture without touching the
carpet. The goal is circle the whole room. The "loser method" is to toss pillows on the ground and use those to fill gaps, but the harder way was
to just use existing furniture.
I had another dream where a huge group of people were crossing the country. I think this was some post-apocalyptic scenario. At one point we went through a building that was like a highschool, at night, but it was abandoned, and in fact some sort of monsters were hiding in the shadows. I think one might have even struck and killed a cat, so this dream was a nightmare. |

I wasn't even aware this was a dream at the time, and didn't think about it until I had been awake for a while. But I must have had a dream where I
was talking to Pepper. (Since obviously that couldn't have happened in real life) She asked me why the big cat tower had holes in some of the floors.
Since she didn't really use that tower much, she didn't get it. So I had to explain to her how the other cats climb the tower by going up those holes.

Two nights ago I had a couple of dreams.
In the first one, FO and I were living in a big city like San Francisco, and there was a warning of an attack, like an atomic bomb, or Godzilla, so everyone was running to get to a fallout shelter. Hundreds, thousands of people were running through the streets. We had our cats with us, but the part of my brain that enforces logic during dreams must have been napping, because we didn't think to put them in cat carriers. We had them running beside us, as though they were dogs. Pepper was okay, Hermes wasn't too bad, but Mel was running back and forth across the street, zigzagging rather than going straight the way we wanted to go. Her zigzags were getting so wide we were worried about losing her completely. So we had to try to grab her and carry her, and she fought against that. The other dream was much more surreal. FO or Pepper or both were going to bed, and I was trying to get them ready for bed. Pepper was in a room like a nursery. I was going to put some toys (like pillows and stuffed animals) in the bed for her. The thing was, the toys were alive. Not alive in a "normal" Toy Story way, where the toy cowboy is alive and thinks he's a cowboy. It'd be more like if the tree that was used to make the wood to make Woody was still alive and sentient and angry that it was carved into a toy. Well, it wasn't quite like that, either. The organisms were unintelligent, I think, which was supposed to make them less threatening and more suited for being toys, but (thinking about it now) made it kind of creepy, too. They might not have resented being toys, but they didn't want it, either. They were just ... there. I think part of the reason they were toys was that they had some sort of coincidental morphology. It was similar to how a Killer Whale looks like it has big white eyes, but that's just a color pattern. Except these animals looked like pillows with cartoon character faces on them. As goofy as that Live and Let Die movie was, I wonder if I had a dream that was influenced by it.
I had a dream that there was some doll (I think that's what it was) that would come to life every day at sundown and try to kill me. No matter what I would do to destroy it, it would always come back. I later found that the explanation for this was that there two of them, and if one was destroyed, the remaining one would be used to reconstruct another. It didn't relate to the plot, but one of the settings in the dream was a glass porch that was half buried, so you could see plants growing underground. Another one was like a wooden restaurant on a pier, but it was like an arcade, too. But instead of people gathering there to just play arcade games, it had other stuff like chess and cards. |

I haven't had too many dreams lately that I can remember, but one recent one involved Inspector Gadget... sort of...
I dreamed that this mall was having problems with children disappearing and Inspector Gadget was hired to investigate... Except that he was not a cartoon character, he was a real-life person... but he did not look like Matthew Broderick or French Stewart (both of whom played him in the recent live action movies). He looked older than them, and his clothing looked like the cartoon character's clothing, but not his head (though I think he was wearing the hat). He was also supposed to be really serious in nature and nothing like the cartoon character. But people kept walking up to him and asking him to show off his gadgets, and he refused, saying that he only uses them when necessary. Then people started asking him to do funny things and asking about Dr. Claw and other goofy things. It got to the point where nobody seemed to care anymore about the kidnappings and they just wanted to see Inspector Gadget do something stupid or silly and he kept refusing, but not really saying or doing much about it. I left the mall thinking, "That was really stupid to hire Inspector Gadget for that. What were they thinking? Of course, that was going to happen." Then I don't remember anything about the dream after that. I think maybe this dream was related to my recent thoughts on how I'm getting annoyed with the idea of taking old things that were campy or goofy and trying to make grindstone serious movies out of them. |

I had a dream last night that there was a previously-undiscovered NES sequel to Shadowgate. It was very much like the original game, with the same graphic
style and text-based adventure gameplay, but the main difference was that there were things living in this castle that could follow you from room-to-room and
if you didn't figure out how to deal with them in time, they would eventually find you and trap you, giving you a game over. Unlike the original
Shadowgate, it was important to close doors behind you in this one because that might make it harder for the monsters to find you. (It seemed sometimes like it
was more of a mansion than a castle, because I remember closing a door at once point and the door had a window on it, so I could see a monster's shadow
pass by it.)
In the context of the dream, it really did seem rather scary and suspenseful. There was one monster that kept trapping me and I kept trying all kinds of solutions, but he still kept getting me. Eventually, I found a knife hidden in a background object and was about to use it on him when he got me again because I was too slow. At that point, I said I had to turn the game off for awhile and the dream ended. |
