It might be considered a surprise, regardless of any emotions anyone has on the subject. Like, the founder of Facebook has a networth of 1.5 billion dollars,
apparently. Then there's this 4chan guy who has one of the best-known and influential sites on the internet, and he can't leverage it to make him any
money at all.
You can go into a Borders store and see a LOLcats book. Some people seem to make money off 4chan. Just not its founder. |

Apologies to anyone here who uses the service, but I get so sick of hearing about Facebook. If aliens came to earth and tried to learn about our culture from
watching TV, they'd think Facebook and Google are the only two sites on the entire internet. And I fail to see what's so special about yet another
Myspace clone.

Me too. I'm SICK AND TIRED of Facebook "jokes." They had one on NCIS a couple of weeks ago that amounted to "HA HA We're talking about
Facebook! Facebook! Facebook! Ha ha ha ha ha!"

I hate it just based on the name alone. It's like people's faces...in a book? Yeah, that's what I get on the internet to see.
The only thing that irritates me slightly about parody wikipedia sites like Uncyclopedia and Dramatica is that they look so similar to the real thing and occasionally turn up on google searches. So sometimes I click on one and don't realize for a moment or two that I'm not at an actual wikipedia article (of course, wikipedia articles themselves sometimes make it difficult to tell parody from the real thing.) ----- There is no spoon! |
