Super Mario Bros. 3 (It was either this or Mega Man 4...) 2. Mega Man 4 (First game I ever beat) 3. Mega Man 3 (I actually prefer these 2 MM games over MM2) 4. Kirby's Adventure (EPIC) 5. Final Fantasy 3 (This FF completely TOWERS over FF1 & FF2) 6. Mother (Also called Earthbound Zero) 7. Gun Nac (IMO this game is one of the most underrated games ever released on any console....think "Space MegaForce" for the SNES) 8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 (Nostalgia factor here...I also LOVE the Technodrome theme...it's one of my favorite 8-bit songs) 9. Little Nemo: The Dream Master (FANTASTIC OST) 10. Contra (No need to justify this one)

Say I toss off a top ten list right now. 1 Castlevania III 2 Super Mario Bros. 3 3 Super Mario Bros. 4 Crystalis 5 Final Fantasy 6 Punch-Out!! 7 Zanac 8 Ninja Gaiden 9 The Legend of Zelda 10 Might and Magic How will it compare to the list I made in the older topic? That was Castlevania III Super Mario Bros. 3 Super Mario Bros. Final Fantasy Punch-Out!! Crystalis Castlevania Castlevania II Zanac Ninja Gaiden in no particular order. Let's see...I have not played enough of CV 3 to really know how much I like it. From what I heard though it's supposed to be one of the best on the console. SMB 3 is a given...it's one of the best video games ever made. Of course I love the original SMB but I prefer almost every Mario game that came after it. I always thought Crystalis was overrated. I almost put Final Fantasy on the list but I MUCH prefer FF3 and I didn't want more that one FF on there. Punch Out!! is a great game of course. Thing is I always get like halfway through the game then get pissed of and quit lol. I've barely played Zanac. I LOVE Ninja Gaiden. Maybe I should have replaced one of my last 3 with it. I'm not a Zelda fan believe it or not..I find the games to non-linear and confusing. I've never played Might and Magic.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 (Nostalgia factor here...I also LOVE the Technodrome theme...it's one of my favorite 8-bit songs) Yes, the Technodrome Theme is really good. 1. Super Mario Bros. 3 - Yeah, sorry it's a cliche, but this is the game that got me back into gaming after Atari killed my interest completely. The amount of stuff that's in this game is not often rivaled. 2. Might and Magic - My favorite RPG ever. But be warned, this is an RPG you play for the role-playing, not the story. 3. Castlevania 3 - One of the few platformers that equally rivals SMB3 in content, design, and overall quality. 4. Metroid - This game fascinated me with its secret passages and hidden items. I was very used to games being completely straightforward and the non-linear nature of this one captivated me and got me hooked on adventure games. 5. Ninja Gaiden - Level 6 is one of the most ingeniously-designed levels in all of videogames. 6. The Magic of Scheherazade - Unique blend of action and roleplaying, and a great soundtrack. 7. Kid Icarus - I have some nostalgia factor involved in this one, but it's still one of my favorites. 8. Blaster Master - A great mix of action and adventure, and a thunderous soundtrack. 9. Zanac - This is where I'm diverting from my outdated Top 100 list. Zanac is one of the most frantic and well-designed shooters I've ever played. 10. Before I fill this spot, I noticed I had Super Mario Bros., Maniac Mansion, The Legend of Zelda, Crystalis, and Little Ninja Brothers all in a row on my Top 100. I think now it would be very difficult for me to choose which of those four I should have on here. I could probably kick Kid Icarus off in favor of another one. The main reason I don't include Punch-Out!! (though it's on my Top 100) is because I never actually finished it, and only beat Super Macho Man once. www.flyingomelette.com

I reread my original thoughts on the game as a refresher. I liked that the game was ambitious (some of the stuff from later Final Fantasy games can be traced to it), I liked that some of the dungeons had unique twists (eg., the one you had to go through MINI), but I didn't think it was as challenging as Final Fantasy 1. I kept all of my characters at the exact same experience level for the majority of the game -- rather than just trying to beat a boss or a dungeon, I tried to beat it with all characters alive (I'm not sure based on the posts, but it looks like I could have kept this up until the final dungeon). In Final Fantasy 1, that becomes difficult early in the game, when you fight Astos, and after that is only harder. I've gotten past Astos with everyone alive, but after that I eventually find it not worth the effort. And I beat the final dungeon and boss of FF3 on my first try. I thought the final dungeon was too long, and it could have been better if they made it shorter and more intense. Although less important, I didn't like FF3's music or story as much, either.

Look at the old Rate the Game. Like the summary at the end said, Average Score: 4.2/5 Seems like the Game Pond generally loved this game, despite how short and easy it is.

First, I liked how you had more than one path in most levels to reach the end. Second, I liked that you had four different characters to play with that all had very different mechanics about them. Lastly, I just liked the bizzare enemies that the game threw at you.
