Opps, I think FO took this picture of Caramel awhile ago and I somehow overlooked the file on the memory card until now. Good shot of her mitteny thumb!

She looks SO much fluffier now. She has huge cheek tufts now.

We'll need to get some pictures of that.

Boy, that was a lot of work. Well, it wasn't just the Turkey Surprise for Caramel; I also made the left over turkey into tetrazzini for us. Our food just
finished; hers isn't done yet, so I don't know if she'll like it.

Heh. She put her head close to the bowl and kind of pulled back. She looked at it, like, I am supposed to eat this? Where's my real food?
So, we gave her more Meow Mix. I guess she gave me her review. Well, I'll leave it out for a while (maybe at least she could pick out the turkey) but if she doesn't like it, she doesn't have to eat it. It was supposed to be a treat for her. |

LOL, I figured that was going to happen. Sorry you went through all the effort, though. Next time some plain chicken or turkey would probably be fine. None of
my cats have ever found it to be too rich, or whatever. They especially love anything sliced from the deli.

Well, we did give her quite a few turkey scraps from Thanksgiving. So, it's not like she hasn't gotten treats she likes.
FO said that maybe about.com is "a little too prudish" about giving cats "health food". I guess it was kind of bizarre to make cat food with carrots and spinach. |

FO told me not to, but I took a little taste of the turkey surprise. It does seem like the rice and spinach absorbed some of the turkey flavor. Oh, well.
Caramel slept on me pretty much all night long. She really made herself at home, starting by washing herself before going to sleep. The only thing is that I was lying on my back, and when I woke up my back was really sore. It was sort of amusing to me that all 3 of us woke up simultaneously at 5:30, FO and I to use the restroom and Caramel to get a drink. |

Hmm, maybe. Sorry. I just find it hard not to giggle at her when she's leaping all around like that. Either that or the catnip was affecting me more
than her.

Caramel did something really cute before I left for work today. She sat on my old laptop case. What was cute about it was that it fit her just about
perfectly.

She tipped the bowl over and spilled the turkey surprise everywhere. I guess that's the final word on what she thought of it.

She "buried" her Friskies salmon dinner tonight. FO thought that meant she doesn't like that either, but I don't know. Maybe it means she
wants to save it for later.
I was doing figure 8's with the feather wand, and it was making Caramel do even higher and more elaborate jumps. |

One of the cats we had when I was growing up would paw at the floor, sometimes for minutes at a time, before drinking water. We were never sure if that was
because she fell in the toilet as a kitten and might have been traumatized by it.

I'm gonna go ask about Christabel at the adoption shelter tonight. I think the last time I stopped over there was on a Friday night after work, but
according to their website, they're only supposed to be open until 4 on Fridays. Maybe that's why the volunteer that night wasn't too helpful - she
might have just wanted me to leave.
So, tonight it is. I'll ask how long the adoption process takes, because my plan is to get her after work on December 23rd or at the latest, early on the 24th before they close at 4 pm. I do have that Friday after Christmas off, so I can spend 5 days at home watching over them. I'd rather get her when I have time off to spend time in the "nursery" room with her, as opposed to bringing her home, locking her in the room alone and taking off for work for 8 hours. I want to make sure everything is set so that I can just show up on the 23rd or 24th and take her home. I don't want to wait until that day, only to find out the adoption process takes several days for some reason. I might start myself on an exercise program with the treadmill. That will give me something to do while I'm in the nursery room. Maybe Christabel will even learn to run on it like those YouTube cats. |

Oh my!
I stopped to check in on Christabel, and she's doing great. The volunteer said that she plays with her all the time because she's extremely friendly. They let me pet her. She strutted all around her cage, purring and rubbing up against my hand. Her purr is distinctly different from Caramel's. Caramel sounds like a motor engine. Christabel sounds like a miniature tiger. What a difference from what she was like the night we found her, and it's nice to see she's not depressed, even though her whole world right now is just a tiny metal cage. They said the back injury is a burn, most likely caused by her trying to get warm inside a car. They're still treating it right now, but the vet didn't find any other health problems aside from being malnourished. Some of her fur is starting to grow back over the injury. She does look scrawny compared to Caramel. Even scrawnier than Caramel was when she came in. Oh, and that was just a camera flash. There's nothing wrong with her eyes. Caramel's playing with a toy mouse right now, chewing on the tail... |

Arlene used to have this problem, where she'd get a bloody sore on the back of her neck, about where it met her shoulders. The vet said it was caused by
stress, and she was overgrooming herself and taking some skin with it. She hasn't had it in a while, but her fur has grown back on that spot. So I guess
unless it goes down to the bone or something, the fur should grow back.
