That's why my parents voted for Bush over Al Gore - which makes absolutely no sense since they aren't gun owners. And they've worked with
environmental groups for most of their adult life, so it's really unbelievable to me that they voted for Bush because of something like that.
Going off-subject slightly, back during the Bush vs. Dukakis campaign, we had a school assignment in which we had to do a report on the candidate our parents were voting for. I asked my mother and she said they were voting for Dukakis. All throughout the campaign, my mother would take jabs at Bush, like when the Boston Harbor subject would come up in his ads, she'd say, "Dukakis didn't pollute the harbor! That's ridiculous!"
Well, of course, we all know who won that election, so I asked her sometime afterwards if she was upset that Bush won. She got a puzzled look on her face and said, "Why would I be upset? That's who I voted for."
Me: .... Uh.... You said you were voting for Dukakis...
Her: ... No. I never said that. I couldn't vote for him. His wife is an alcoholic.
