Cleared Metal Gear Solid Four. That game was amazing.

I finished Link's Awakening!! I lost several times to the final boss but beat him on my third or fourth. The final form wasn't so difficult once I
realized that you can use the feather to jump over his arms, but I ran out of arrows the first time I got to that phase.
That ending was fantastic. I wish more game stories were like that. Simple but very effective. I'm a little surprised I was still as affected by it as I was considering I already knew basically how it ends. "No one can withstand

ya know, snake eater kinda reminds me of my ex-unit mascot, the mongoose, who eats snakes.
as for link's awakening, i'm not sure i want more games to end with "it was only a dream?" and "did that chick who had a crush on me think i was gay?"

So the Wii version of the Block Breaker Deluxe. Bomberguy commented on how in the video I posted, characters sometimes popped up and got in the way during the
middle of gameplay. But it looks like that was somebody's idea of clever editing because it doesn't happen in the real game.

it's not as though this issue hasn't been addressed
here before.

I'm working of MGS4, I just got outta the Middle East. Anyways the most signigicant thing I've done lately is getting an S ranking on the final mission
of Advance Wars.
To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the
world.

So, this whole Granstream Saga thing... it ain't happening. I got to the first real dungeon and the time consuming battles are too much for me. Maybe if
they gave you experience points or something, but as it is, it feels like time wasting. Plus they all respawn if you leave that floor of the dungeon. Since the
game has no other redeeming qualities, I think it's best to pass and find something else to play.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King - Beat it.
It was an interesting final battle. You were forced to send all of your adventurers on that one behest, so it was like a Holiday without the morale boost. A meter at the bottom of the screen measured the Dark Lord's health. If you didn't defeat him by the end of the day, the progress you made on him remained. One of my parties took out a huge chunk of his health, and it was that party (headed by my first adventurer) that took out the last quarter of health. Quite rapidly, at that. I've read online that I can do a New Game +. I think I'll hold off on that for a while. This was an interesting game, but it sure was a time consumer. |

Flying Omelette wrote: ^^ What FO said. Also, for a story with an "it was all a dream" ending, it was the best one I've seen. Usually when things end with "It was all a dream" there's no clue ahead of time and it's used as a Deus Ex Machina, but that isn't really true of Link's Awakening as it's foreshadowed by the Owl statues and straight up told to you at the Southern Shrine where you get the Face Key. I think Sethra once said that she likes to interpret the story as the island being real, but only able to exist while the Wind Fish is asleep. That's how I like to think of it, too. I might replay this game to attempt a 000 no Game Over run or I might play something different first. For the curious, I died 14 times. "No one can withstand

That boss that's the giant face in the ground also says something like "Look pal, if the Wind Fish wakes up, this island will disappear"

000 in Link's Awakening is kind of pointless as an achievement, since it doesn't count saves. So, you can just turn the game off any time and keep
your 000 status.
I've beaten Link's Awakening maybe about 4 times, but like most games I first played after biological adulthood, I only remember bits and pieces. When my brother was stuck on Eagle's Tower, I was able to help him out, but I had to play the game to jog my memory. So, it's all up here *taps forehead* but buried. On the other hand, if I had to map all of Castlevania 2 right now, with no preparation, by memory, I'd probably do a pretty good job. I wonder how many times, or how many times in a row, I'd have to beat a game for it to practically become a part of me.

Sweetbee wrote:Tough call. I think I like them both equally (I'm very biased towards Snake Eater for several silly reasons like playing as Big Boss though). Buuut...I think on the whole, gameplay wise, MGS4 is a better game, and its mechanics are very solid. Its not without a few problems, but its otherwise fantastic. MGS4 also has a lot of variety in each Act. MGS4 has long cutscenes as people have cried about. Its mostly from an Act's ending sequence to the next Act's start (which means the mission briefing, as well as the first cutscene of the level), but the game has save options at certain points in the cutscenes so you don't have to sit all the way through or miss something either. You can take a break. :/ As for "Already?" beating it, I took over 45 hours and pretty much did nothing over the weekend but play it. ... I noticed several people missed the point of the final fight when I posted the video of it. You guys wouldn't get the point of the last act 4 boss either, I'm guessing. And no, I will not explain it to you hooligans. I've got EO2 to go worship. "I flew into the wild and fire. I danced and died a thousand times."

I decided to pass on that 000 game for now and started Super Mario Bros. 3. Confession time: I have never actually finished this game before. I'm going to
play it on the NES so that it will be the hardest possible version not counting the Japanese version which is even harder. I'm just going to leave my NES
turned on and hope we don't get a power outage.
Hmm...I think Vampyrus once said that SMB3 isn't really any harder than SMB2. Maybe I'm just not as used to the game's controls but it seems like it gets pretty hard almost right away. There's an auto-scrolling stage not long after the first two, although I think it can be skipped. I'm going to try to complete every world, so I'm banking on 1-Ups in the first world. I think SMB3 is definitely harder than SMB2 (I may have made a direct comparison between similar moments late in the games somewhere).
But it is does give huge amounts of lives, so its difficulty might not manifest in game overs.

Okay, the problem I'm having with Painkiller now is the levels are starting drag on for too long!
For my most recent level, an air force base, it said my time was 43 minutes, and I don't even know if that counts deaths! |

I started Lost Planet. Impressions?
It's playable. I just wish Wayne moved and aimed faster. And the VSes (Gundam-like robot walkers) are even more sluggish. I also wish they had toned down all the snow. When I started the first mission I jumped into the Gundam and ran right off a cliff into a freezing river because I couldn't see where I was going. You have this counter in the upper left that's quickly counting down. This is your thermal energy meter. When you take damage you heal up right away (unless your entire life meter gets wiped out, I guess), but it makes the TE meter drain a lot faster while you're doing so. You refil it by collecting this orange glowy goop the enemies leave behind when killed. This first boss was kind of annoying. |

have to find out a way to get semen off of their PS3 without leaving streaks.
I think it'll be interesting to play an MGS designed with an over the shoulder camera in mind. I thought it was nice having it in MGS3 Subsistence, but
the level designs were clearly made for the overhead camera and it made some things too easy.
As for the cutscenes, I already Youtube'd all of them, so if I actually play the game, I can just skip them if they annoy me. |
