I have never played a Virtual Boy game for more than 10 seconds. I'm curious if they were good or too reliant on the 3D to be enjoyable.

I wonder if they'll try to get people to buy the same game twice by releasing the superior Master System version of Double Dragon much later.

Turns out that the ESRB has rated Earthbound, so it should be coming out in the near future. Who knows if they'll ever release Mother 1. It wouldn't be
hard since it's already been translated, and they've released other import games. Apparently, Earthbound was the number one most wanted game in a
recent Nintendo Power poll. I don't know how much weight that carried since Nintendo isn't even involved with the magazine anymore, but the timing is
interesting.

I don't know how much weight that carried since Nintendo isn't even involved with the magazine anymoreI'm not following these things, so I looked that up at Wikipedia. They're apparently paying another company to write it. So, they're not DIRECTLY involved. Anyway, FO and I already have Earthbound 0. |

Apparently, Earthbound was the number one most wanted game in a recent Nintendo Power poll. It surprises me that Nintendo hasn't milked the Mother franchise more. With the free marketing the Super Smash Bros. series gives to the Mother games, Ninty could easily vault the series internationally as it did with Fire Emblem. How is Earthbound 0? |

I thought FO's first impression was that it was crap. Slow, high encounter rate.
Earthbound seems to me like a type of gaming experience you'd only need once, if it was done well.
See how your opinion ruined Christmas for everyone!

I didn't really get far enough in it to judge it yet. It did seem like it had a slow start and some good music. That's about all I can say.
Really, I wouldn't call the game "crap" without further playtime.

There will be no Virtual Console this week as Nintendo launches the Wii Ware service to compete with Xbox Live Arcade and other similar products. Relatively
inexpensive remakes and original games that wouldn't be suitable for retail treatment.
FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: My Life as a King (Kingdom building simulator) LostWinds (Platformer with wind theme and heavy use of the Wii remote) Defend Your Castle (Do you need an explanation? "Hold them off as long as possible") Pop (A bubble popping game. Wii is truly the next generation of videogames) V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack (This is useful because there's no way you could find a million free blackjack games on the internet.) TV Show King (A quiz show game. I'm sure it'll get a perfect score.) Where the fuck is the Dr. Mario remake that was supposed to be here? That was the only thing I wanted. |

Y'know, I was just thinking about how for every attempt at making an actual game for the DS like Phoenix Wright or Etrian Odyssey, there's ten
wiffleball games, or license cash-ins, or brain training tools, or pet/baby simulators, or crossword/sudoku/that other Japanese paper puzzle that I think
starts with a K collections, or ports of some Internet Flash game with all the depth of a Wario Ware microgame.
And the game pool of the Wii is no better.

I'm only looking forward to Lost Winds out of those. Thats the one that seems to be worth the money to play. The others look good, but don't seem to
hold my interest for too long.

The Crystal Chronicles game sounds interesting to me, but that price tag is ridiculous. It better be worth $15.

Ahahaha, $15? For what sounds like a SimCity clone?

Plus there's a bunch of optional downloadable content which would bring it up to $30 or $40 if you got it all. All I really know is that you basically
manage a bunch of heroes who go out questing while you stay safe and well fed, probably rolling around in all your riches. I don't know if you actually
control the layout of the town in great detail or not, but I can't imagine it would give you as much control as a real city sim.

Virtual Console: Sky Kid (NES)
Wii Ware: Critter Round-Up (This one looks so bad I need a link.) Star Soldier R (Might have been a decent shooter if they bothered to make one but it sounds like there's a 2-minute and 5-minute competitive mode, and that's it.) I'm getting annoyed that we're going to get even less Virtual Console games to make room for garbage like this. |

Again, the Wii proves its innovations! I believe that Critter Round-Up was called Cacoma Knight in Bizyland on the Super Nintendo.

Virtual Console:
Metal Slug (Neo Geo), City Connection (NES) I'm not interested in those, but I'm relieved that they actually released two games. I have a fear that Wii Ware is going to take over completely at some point. Wii Ware: Dr. Mario Online RX * Not much more than a port, but it's got slightly upgraded visuals (though it's arguable whether it actually looks better) online multiplayer, and some kind of mode where you have motion control. No need to fear though, because you can still play Dr. Mario in traditional fashion. It's the most promising thing on Wii Ware so far, I think, but that's not saying much. I might try the online mode someday. I was pretty good at this game, maybe even very good. My parents were obsessed with the multiplayer mode when the game came out and I usually was always playing with one or the other. http://youtube.com/watch?v=b7jW5n3JOp0 Family Table Tennis * Don't know anything about it, but it sounds like more generic crap inspired by the popularity of Wii Sports. |

Dig Dug (NES Import), Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa (Famicom Disk System)
Didn't know Dig Dug wasn't out for NES in the US. WiiWare: My Pokemon Ranch- You basically just add Pokemon to your ranch and they wander around and you can take pictures of them to send to other Wii owners that won't care. |

You know, if the Pokemon models didn't look like they were made in AutoCAD in five minutes, they could've made a halfway decent game with that. Of
course, the guy in the comments section of the link CB posted had some good points: bigger/better models mean more space, and it could also be a stylistic
choice to adhere better to the Mii style. You know, those comments I read about Wii's limited system capacity have a lot of validity - there's going to
be some hard choices coming up for those people who are download-crazy.
I remember Dig Dug. I rented it a few times. The NES version was kinda fun, but for some reason, I don't remember anything past the first level. Part of that may just be that I sucked at it. I recall often times running out of land and being trapped on an island with another monster, unable to get a clear shot. |

...Oh.
Then I have no idea how good the game is, or if it did indeed reach American soil. (This happened with Adventure Island, too. I mean, Adventure Island II.) |
