Although it might be cool to take a road trip out there this summer, what would I do? Even assuming I found the place, I could take a picture and post it. I'm not sure that would be worth the trouble.

I'm surprised it took me 8 months to realize this, but I live about an hour away from Alamogordo NM, the location of the "ET Burial Grounds"
landfill.

Unfortunately, according to Wikipedia, the cartridges were covered in cement, and the landfill doesn't allow scavenging. There honestly isn't much to
do there.

Unfortunately, not only where the cartridges buried under cement, but they where (according to snopes,) crushed with a steamroller beforehand. (
http://snopes.com/business/market/atari.asp ) So, on the bright side, you could hope to at least bring back some crushed IC chip fragments and bits of plastic.
