Unless this statement was made by someone who worked on the game and felt that the doors were harder to find than they had actually planned, then this really doesn't make sense to me because I don't know you'd know exactly how difficult they meant the dungeons to be. Also, and this is just my personal take, but I didn't find the hidden doors in that game as difficult to find as the hidden doors in the second quest of The Legend of Zelda. Usually Equinox does have a clue (usually something sitting against the wall), but Zelda 2nd Quest doesn't at all. You just have to push everywhere.
