Bought Airplane! "Don't call me Shirley!" Edition for $5 and what I assume will be a pirated copy of
Ultimate Mortal Kombat over eBay. I don't know yet, considering it's being shipped from Hong Kong. I have a
feeling it is, due to the NWC sticker not being on the package in the picture.

So, I guess I've purchased all the remaining Prime books I really care about. I got a lot of about ten Ultraforce books, the first three having Rogue
Prime which are definitely getting pitched off to the side. I got the Marvel Primes 6 though 15 from one guy, then found this other guy who has basically
every Prime book, so I scooped up the Power of Prime books from him as well as some I was missing like 7 and Mantra 7 which is essentially Prime 8.5 (Prime 8
ends with Prime telling Samuels not to muck with his parents and he's going to rescue Mantra whether he likes it or not and a message saying it's
continued in Mantra 7, then Prime 9 opens with Kevin coming home and getting jumped by Samuels' men). I really hope Prime 7 doesn't tell me to go read
a Prototype book, because 8 opens with Prime and Prototype falling through the earth's atmosphere.
I also found something called Premiere which I haven't the foggiest what it's supposed to be, and some X-Men/Prime crossover dealing with Jean Gray/Phoenix. I'm not bothering with those. |

I scooped up a Hardcase lot. It has books 1-19 (17 and 19 are Prime crossovers to boot), then 24-26. I guess Hardcase didn't get any love from Marvel,
but I can't help but have an indirect respect for the guy.

We found some old electronics stuff in the stockroom that we haven't actually sold for years. I'm sure most of it predates my employment there. The
word from above was to mark it all down to 5 dollars each, and we got first pick. I ended up with a cordless phone, a CD/Cassette player, and a "charging
station"/organizer for various gadgets. It's actually pretty nice stuff, even forgetting the fact that it's only 5 bucks each.

I bought a Goldfinger at a used game shop for my Playstation. I'm thinking of importing some of those Sunsoft Memorial compilations and I think the
Goldfinger allows you to play imports, if I remember hearing that on this board correctly. If not, at least I have something that lets me access some music and
FMVs from my other games without having to play all the way through them again.

I forgot to post about this when they came, but I got three more CD's:
Ghostbusters Soundtrack Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble - The Real Deal: Greatest Hits Vol. 2 (The main reason I got this was because I wanted "Pipeline", but this is the only album that has it aside from the "Back to the Beach" soundtrack, which I didn't want to buy, despite having owned it on cassette years ago.)

Probably not wise considering how close I am to unemployment, but I picked up an external hard drive the other day. It's 500GB for about $100.00
It's incredibly useful and easy to backup to it. It's extremely fast, I notice no difference in performance loading from it compared to my PC's internal drive. Most importantly of all, it's got a cool, bright blue light that blinks when it's in use. I think it's powered by magic. Seriously though, I've always wanted one of these. |

I don't need to buy games. I have access to more than I'll ever be able to finish anyway. But I really should get a new computer. I don't really
have one at home but the one I do have access to elsewhere out of school is old and gonna fail at any moment I just know it. I really should put my money into
better things like bonds.

Found some Ranma 1/2 VHS videos cheap at a local store that was liquidaing old stock. Have no idea if they're any good but we got them for the heck of it.
Now the next time James decides to use his "Mousse" account he can say he's actually seen the series the character is from.

Does Seabu by any chance want a copy of Full Throttle? I got a second copy with Grim Fandango.
I also got some Sam and Max stuff (Season 1 which I only paid $10 for with a Best Buy coupon and runs on my computer, but I might need to get some more RAM for my computer because I once got a message saying my virtual memory was low, the cartoon, the comic collection) and a set of Ultraforce action figures (Hardcase, Prototype, Prime, NM-E, and three others I haven't a clue who they are). Damn, I thought $7 for shipping was a lot, but the set cost $9 to ship and I only paid $.99 for the actual auction. |

I haven't heard of Full Throttle before. Maybe I can find something around here to send you in exchange for it.
As for Sam & Max, I liked the comics. The cartoon seemed kind of lame from what I saw on Youtube but maybe it's better if you're in the right frame of mind. The games are a lot of fun (they really just get better and better) but it was an ambitious project and they took a few episodes to find a rhythm and start being compelling. If you're anything like me, by the time you get to the end of Season 1, you'll be buying Season 2 without giving it a second thought. And for when you get started, yes, Max's voice changes from the second game episode onwards. You aren't going crazy. The old voice actor had a health issue of some sort. |

I remember there being a couple of jokes I thought were funny, but overall it was rather bland. Seemed like it was a good concept marred by writers and network
folks who really didn't know what to make of it.

CLOUDBOND007 |

From what I heard, the network tried to get them to change Max into a girl because there were no strong female characters. They ended up adding an original
character instead.

Oh, and I think I'll have pass on Full Throttle, but thanks for offering it. Classic adventure games don't seem to really click with me because of my
limited patience, so you'd be wasting it, and I couldn't think of anything suitable to trade, anyway.

bought an mp3 player, which also plays wmas, oggs and asfs. a samsung u3. slim. plays for 15hrs on a full charge. annoying that it can only be charged thru a
usb port. there was a 10 dollar cheaper philips player, but it uses an AA battery which can only afford it 10 hrs of playtime.
that, and it was made in china instead of s korea. funky i would think of china as low tech and low production values compared to s korea. for most of history, china was more advanced and richer than korea. in the past, i only remember korea as a cold country with limited metal resources but overloaded with ginseng. if i'm not wrong, historians thought of koreans as only slightly more civilised than the bloody mongols. at least they actually created their own language instead of ripping off chinese like the japs. the cure song i pieced together from a vcd recording ends weirdly on the player. the player also can't play the normal playlists(PLS)and mp3 playlists(M3U) i use with my winamp. it use a a SPL(same extension as a flash splash file) playlist which can only be created with the samsung media studio prog which came with the player. not very flexible thingy. copying a playlist to my player, make the prog try to copy the mp3/whatever into the player as well, even though i already have the files on my player.i made the list by 'dropping' tracks in my player into the list, and it tries to copy files from the player back into itself again?!? nutz. there's a option to stop it from overwriting the stuff again but it still seems to seriously slow down the copying of the playlists. playlist couldn't possibly be bigger than several kilobytes. ho hum. fair amount of features for a tiny thing. i can even set a custom EQ. but the annoying thing always resets the custom EQ each time i access it, instead of letting me make minor adjustments to it. === i thought classic adventure gaming didn't require much patience. just a walkthrough when you get stuck several times with no rational or clear solution in sight. |
