I've probably seen way many more bad cartoons than good.
That episode of One Piece that I saw was really bad. Hammerman - I don't know if I ever saw a whole episode all the way through, but I saw enough to justify mentioning it. That Silver Surfer cartoon from the 90's might possibly be my choice for #1 worst cartoon I've ever seen. Beast Machines was pretty bad, too. Maybe Beast Machines could be even worse for me because it had the same problem of Silver Surfer where *nothing* would happen in the early episodes, but it went further than that by desecrating established Beast Wars characters in the later episodes. Horseland, which is that show with the anorexic girls that I saw at Midas when I was getting my car fixed, is another candidate. Some cartoons aren't so bad, but it pains me that they fell victim to 80's cliches (mostly due to interference from network suits) that make them worse than they should have been. I don't, for example, think I could watch Dungeons & Dragons anymore because I wouldn't be able to stomach the Eric character, or the annoying little kid character, or the leader without a personality character. And it's for those same reasons I couldn't get through Season 1 of Captain N. I can't get something out of nothing, but I never tried. www.flyingomelette.com Signature Under Construction |

I don't think Ed, Edd, and Eddy or The Grim Adventures of Bill and Mandy quality as some of the worst cartoons *ever*.
Watch some Hanna Barbera cartoons from the '60's or '70's (like the original Space Ghost). |

Bill(y?) and Mandy is debateable, but Edd, Edd, and Eddy? Cliche writing, annoying characters, and an art style that was not only ugly as hell but everything
jiggled like it was made of Jell-O.
But still, Grim Adventures had that episode where Billy asks the Reaper for superpowers, then he goes flying off to some random planet and screams incoherently while shooting yogurt out of his armpits, which has to count for something. |

That's like the gamer logic that you can't say Lunar is one of the worst games ever because you can only say games like Heroes of the Lance and E.T. are the worst ever. You can argue that Silver Surfer and Beast Machines aren't the worst ever because they had decent animation and artwork, but I think it's worse when that's wasted on shows that have such terrible writing than it is when everything else about a show is bad anyway. And some shows manage to be good even with hardly any animation at all, like Cartoon Planet (which I also confess to being somewhat of an influence on the current RAU Gallery).I can't get something out of nothing, but I never tried. www.flyingomelette.com Signature Under Construction |

I'm not arguing that Beast Machines and Silver Silver aren't the worst ever. For one thing, I haven't seen either of them.
Buy, yes, if something has some honestly positive attributes, and has more than some other thing, then it might just be better, and then it might just not be the worst ever. I also think that E.T. and Heroes of the Lance are at least unusual games, so they have some originality over Lunar. I also never said that Lunar is the worst game ever -- it is, however, possibly the most overrated game. The worst game that is supposedly reputable. I'm not saying Ed, Edd and Eddy is good, or even mediocre, but I just don't see it as being anywhere near the worst ever. From the episodes I've seen of that show (and Grim Adventures), I haven't seen anything as unwatchable as the worst episodes of He-Man (like Star Child) or Ren and Stimpy (Powdered Toast Man), and I don't know if anyone here would call those some of the worst cartoons ever. And while Ed's art style is arguably not attractive (I don't really think it's that ugly), it at least is fully animated and doesn't seem like it's a rip off of something else or is based on a trend -- it's at least original (it does look like Brothers Grunt, but it's by the same guy). It's not, let's say, just generic anime. In some ways, I think I might be too easy on He-Man because of nostaglia. It really has not stood the test of time. I think Voltron might be worse than Ed, Edd and Eddy or Grim Adventures. I recently saw an episode of that, and it was nearly unwatchable. |

I maybe should have mentioned that out of the three I mentioned, Blackstar's the worst. It was ugly, what little happened was either insignificant or
asspulling, and the most bearable episode (probably the only one that was bearable, period) was the evil tree one.
But on the other hand, nobody cares about Blackstar, and I can't help but feel that when kids these days think of cartoons they think of Grim Adventures and EE&E.

And after my experience with EE&E, I can understand someone coming away from it thinking it was one of the worst cartoons they ever saw. Maybe it isn't, but I sure don't want to watch any more of it myself.
I think the problem with the Grim Reaper cartoon is saturation. Last time I had access to Cartoon Network, it seemed like if you turned it on at any given time, there was a 75% chance that cartoon would be on. Actually, now that I think about it, that Xaolin Showdown seemed way worse. Billy & Mandy, despite that I'm not a fan of it, may have garnered a chuckle or smile of amusement from me on occasion. But Xaolin Showdown had formulaic writing worthy of the Hanna Barbera 60's era and stupid morals - a winning combination, plus a character that's a clear rip off a Dragon Ball Z character.

Anything with that disgusting plastic look 99% of modern anime has ranks up there.

If we're expanding this to include movies, I'm also going to have to say The Incredibles and The Rescuers (both movies).

the new Fantastic Four cartoon that was on cartoon network was horrendous. The New Kids on The Block Cartoon was Freaking terrible. Jem, who was truely
outrageous, was also truely bad. Ed, Edd, and Eddy is completly unwatchable. Milk-Chan, that was on Adult Swim, was the opposite of entertainment. Karate
Kommandos........that says it all.

They used to show those on Toonami and yes, those are some of the worst cartoons I've ever seen. Bird Man and Fantastic Four especially. |

Blackstar? Worst ever? Cheesy yes, but not /the/ worst ever. Heck, the "Super 7" was worse than Blackstar (I actually thought Blackstar was pretty
decent), and there's cartoons worse than that. I agree that Ed Edd and Eddy wasn't that great, although I find Billy and Mandy somewhat amusing.
(Billy is awful; Mandy is almost halfway-decent cool)
However, there were some that were just downright unwatchable. For instance IMO: Rugrats, Wild Thornberrys, heck, most of anything to come out of Nickelodeon (except Avatar and Danny Phantom). Toxic Crusaders sucked ass. So did Rude Dog and the Dweebs. The late 80s/early 90s were a gold mine of crappy cartoons. ![]() Koby Fish is NOT HAPPY now |

i thought the original ghostbuster cartoon was pretty lame. the beast wars 3d cartoon where the transformers were all living in some kind of cyberworld was
intensely(sp?) boring.
Toxic Crusaders sucked ass. So did Rude Dog and the Dweebs. wtf, dude. they were way cool. and botz/boyz(don't remember the right name) too. but not as cool as parker lewis can't lose, which isn't a cartoon. The New Kids on The Block Cartoon was Freaking terrible hindsight is 20/20 ,man. i bet you bought one of their album.

Rocko's Modern LifeI haven't seen Rocko since I was little, but I have a feeling I'd still enjoy it. |

I remember seeing Gumby many years ago and was actually quite shocked that it was as bad as it was. I kept hearing about it for so long that I thought it had
to have been good for people to remember the characters so well. I also remember seeing a really horrible Dick Tracy cartoon around that time, too.
Crawl and I saw the intro to some cartoon I had never heard of before, Skeleton Warriors, on YouTube. People in the comments (as always on YouTube) are overwhelmingly positive about it, but it looks like the bad 80's hair metal image personified in cartoon form. It kind of pains me to hear the late Tony Jay's voice in that... I can't get something out of nothing, but I never tried. www.flyingomelette.com Signature Under Construction |

Hahaha, I remember seeing commercials for Skeleton Warriors toys. I didn't know there was a cartoon. I wonder if that theme song was written by the same
person who did the theme for the Mega Man cartoon? It's pretty much the same. I think the image is closer to true metal than hair metal though.

Well, they're both created by Joe Murray but aren't that similar. I was surprised at how mediocre Camp Lazlo was when I first saw it.

Camp Lazlo always struck me as some kind of successor to Rocko's Modern Life, albeit a weak one. They look alike, and either they share the same VA cast or
they rounded up a fan club that does great impressions of the Rocko cast.
And in any case, my question was slightly facetious. |

Crawl and I watched part of a Gumby episode on YouTube. Crawl said that he thought he remembered liking the Gumby cartoon when he saw it years ago.
I found it pretty insufferable on account of the REALLY dead-in-the-water voice acting. The story also seemed impenetrable. Characters leap into a book about pirates, which clearly shows pirate ships on the cover, but end up instead on a city street (?) and just go into a store run by a pirate. The pirate sells them a chest. They open the chest and its full of magic beans and instructions on what to do with them. It's really incomprehensible nonsense, and it takes forever to go anywhere. I can't help but get the feeling that someone's claymation budget simply couldn't afford a real pirate scene with actual ships and swords and things like that. Then it turns out this episode isn't from the original series, it's from the 80's. I hope it wasn't after Transformers. That makes the voice acting even less excusable if it is. I can't get something out of nothing, but I never tried. www.flyingomelette.com Signature Under Construction |
