Almost hard to believe that rage-filled beast is the same guy. '08 Honen shouldn't have left his weak spot so vulnerable like that.
Also, I really like the closeup shots in the middle.

Well, this is the guy who blew up 1/4 of the school in his second appearance, so it's really not that far off. No, he wasn't fighting at the top of his game. He's injured and trying to fight without actually hurting his opponent.

Pretty cool! I'm glad to see my Snugga is being creative.
Since I got Inkscape and Gimp to work, I played around with them using RAU pictures.

I think it's gotta be much, much easier to color in the lines on the computer with those programs.
There are other nifty things those programs can do that I didn't demonstrate. Like, they can have things partially transparent, so if you made the edge of a "sprite" partially transparent, then you could paste it into another scene and there would be no obvious edge to the sprite, or "jaggies" -- it would blend in.

Do you think we'll see more of these "darker" storylines in the future or will it be back to comedy when this one's done? ![]() "Alas, Horatio, I knew you well...now prepare for the long bomb!" |

The interesting thing is that Honen probably could have killed Honen in that situation. So, it seems like Honen is hesitating.

I'm not really skilled enough to make a swordfight scene 100% coherent, but basically what happened was:
I know it's a little more "dramatic" than what I usually do with the series, but I don't think it's all that "dark". "Dark" has a connotation on the internet of "being emo/violent/depressing/lacking in humor" just for the sake of it, but I'm going somewhere with this.
And yes, '95 is hesitating.
Oh my God, they found Tom.

"Gee, I'd like to do a darker and more serious storyline". This idea just came to me and I went with it. If I get another idea for a
multi-parter, I'll do it, but it's just much easier to do the comedy ones. And even for those I have to wait until ideas come to me.

Crap. Only problem with being a mod is that sometimes I accidentally click the "Edit" link instead of the "Quote".
Flying Omelette wrote: But he was pushed to the breaking point in that. Even though he lashes out a lot, he seems like he's all talk for the most part. Like he's a nice guy underneath, but he just doesn't want to be thought of as being a nice guy. I'm not complaining that it's inconsisent or unbelievable, but it's just a little nerve-wracking to see him that angry and willing to kill another of his own kind. "No one can withstand

Well, a few things:
2. Gotta remember, he's not being rational and not thinking rationally. Also keep in mind that present-day Honen did destroy his Megallon.
It's a wonder he wasn't MORE pissed about that originally, but still gave present-day a chance to explain himself. Also, Honen's siding with Deuce
Koma and Prof. McRaven, who are 95's sworn enemies.

I only just now understood that this entire battle is symbolic of him overcoming his past and the conflict in his mind between being what he is now and going back to what he used to be. Damn, you've only been saying that over and over again throughout the whole series and I just didn't think of it.
I really hope you continue to work on it and finish it. "No one can withstand

Would Deuce have to commit suicide if Honen really died?

Uh, no...What do you mean "have to"? It's not like that's a law.
She'd be devastated, I'm sure, but she's not the type to commit suicide.

FO, I just wanted to say how much I'm really loving this storyline. The symbolism is brilliant and spot-on (although I do take some exception to Honen,
even angsty evil enraged Honen, being used to represent the stupidity of the internet -- c'mon, even he's more likable than that, but I
digress). Here's hoping you get some more of it posted soon.
Oh, and this is the second time you've made me feel sad and worried about Honen on a cliffhanger. Curse you! |

Thanks, Sethra, although this isn't very good for my ego.
Anyway, to address this: I don't remember if this ever made it to the forums or not, but Crawl and I were once discussing writing and he said that when you write for a character, it's good to try to write a little better than what people are really like. But even with that aside, "stupidity of the internet" isn't the only thing he symbolizes. As Tyler already mentioned, he is also Honen's own personal conflict. He's had trouble dealing with it on an emotional level. Dealing with it on a physical level is even more taxing. If you removed all the subtext and symbolism, you'd still be left with a character who is no way inconsistent with what he was like when he was a villain. I know it's my own fault that before now, we've not really seen Honen like this (except in a few old out-of-context IA panels), but that was another reason to write this series - so that I could write with him as a villain again and to show what he was like.

That Nucleo looks neat. You should make all of your cutscenes look like that. Maybe you could draw them and Crawl could color them.

It's a thought, but I don't know if Crawl really has the time or desire to do that and it would mean further delays.
That's the type of expressiveness I'd like to see more in cartoons, especially from artists who are better at drawing than me.
