I step in and tell her I'd appreciate if she didn't eat in the store. I didn't even say she can't, I tried to make it sound less threatening.
She immediately has an attitude and says nobody's ever told her that before. I repeated, "Well, I'd still appreciate if you didn't".
If she spills the stuff, I'm probably going to end up cleaning it.
She first starts saying that she was opening it because she was leaving soon and wanted to have it ready (!) but then drops this explanation and just says that she's going to eat it anyway regardless of what I say.
She walks away to get a prescription from the pharmacy. A few seconds later she walks back, sets the bag down, and says "I don't want this, it's been opened" and walks away again.
I could have done any number of things at that point, but I was honestly shocked speechless by the whole thing by then and let her walk off. Another manager did follow her and kind of glare at her until she paid for the soda, though.
But seriously, what the fuck?
