I'm kind of gameless right now and it's pissing me off a little. I sent back Okami and Odin Sphere at the same time. Usually I play the second game while the first one goes back. I decided that if I could remake Sonic 2 into the perfect game, it would be this.

The whole game takes place in Chemical Plant Zone. That stage is turned into one of the pinball levels that loops infinitely so you can play pinball and listen to the music. When you want to beat the game, you just scream out: "His name is fucking Robotnik not Eggman!!!" and then it explodes.

Also happy October. It's the month with the Halloween holiday that I'm already tired of because the store's decorations have been up since Labor Day. It's also the month where I get a week paid vacation. Joy.

Edit: I just realized, I bought Super Metroid on the Wii a while ago and never played it. I liked it when I tried it on an emulator in the past. This may be a good choice.

I was cruising through the archives, and thought this was hilarious.

The sad part is, Mega Man X6 probably is better than Final Fight 3...

I don't get the joke.

I finished Sonic 2. I had forgotten how bad the last level of that game is.

Huh? I thought it was mainly the middle of the game that sucked. Although that is mostly because those levels are so generic and forgettable -- they're just pure filler -- that they might as well not even be there. At least Metal Sonic was one of the better parts of the game, for what that is worth.

That game's difficulty curve is messed up. Chemical Plant Zone is the second area in the game, and it's harder than almost all of the stages that came after it.

Well, people were voting between Mega Man X6 and Final Fight 3. X6 won 7 to 0. Mega Man X6 is awful, but it's probably still better than Final Fight 3.

strange. i thought final fight 2 was manlier.

stuck in that highfort stennie castle, where sten leaves and i have to find some flute somewhere, and finally read an faq. i have to go to the meeting room to get captured. but i already tried that. bzzzzzz... 50 hrs into this game, i probably spent most of it training up the lower levelled characters who joined more recently. and fishing and hunting... mostly fishing. i wonder if that treepole's any good. well. i think i like this game's fishing minigame more than suikoden ii's fishing game. i thought suikoden ii's iron cheffy melodramatic minigame was awesome though. anyways. i think i lost the main plot. what is the plot? so far i can only tell that there is an evil one and evil people are turning into evil monsters. so f%ckin' what? seems like a hell lot of subquests within subquests, and i only have a vague idea of what the main quest is... burninate evil with dragon breath?

i think i'm gonna stick with sten and spar, and bow/nina, just because the fire and water shamans combine well with sten and spar respectively. spar's sprite tranformation's "sleep spore" ability is crap compared to the random nature ability, but the the boost to his/her stats are definitely useful. spar's original stats stink. finally realise the "RIP" ability means "Rest In Peace"(for playing dead to avoid enemy attack) instead of "Rip". which means stens ability would work better on katt, and vice versa. terrible character design.

found that that even fighting those much tougher enemies like the one on giant isle, and the ones in that desert won't make spar level up really fast. but leveling up is still a hell lot less tedious than say... star ocean. earning money in this game is a bitch. i should try that gold trick if i ever replay this furry fetish thingy.

i think the bof3 nina looks hotter, but bof4 nina is cute too. bof1 nina looks too feral and lezzy. the latest nina is WTF!!! looks like some hungry very underaged vagrant/slave. sick japanese bastards have defiled nina!

The middle to me is just generic. Metropolis Zone is okay, if a little long. The last stage, I just hated the visuals and the music and there wasn't really much to the actual level once you learned the few tricky spots. I remember Sonic 1 having a much more exciting conclusion. It wasn't as bad as that cave/mine zone, at least.

Yay, me. I managed to get NUKE in Final Fantasy 1. I forgot whether you needed to get the SLAB to get NUKE. You do not.

However, I still can't beat Kary! Holy crap! And I tried three times after getting nuke. I kind of think I had bad luck, because on a couple of those attempts, she just physically twice in a row or something.

Here are my Sonic 2 Achievement Points. I went through hell and back to earn these toughies.
"Beat Emerald Hill Zone 1" took me at least 30 hours of failing and redoing but I finally got there. I'm probably one of only a hundred people in the country to manage that. I then top myself again by getting to Casino Night Zone AND getting a Chaos Emerald. I've heard rumors there might be more than one of those things, but no human being is ever going to find them. Finally, I made myself the worldwide master of Sonic 2 by... you aren't going to believe this... beating the game. Yes, I beat Sonic 2. AKA Sonic the Impossible. AKA the unwinnable game. Now I am the master.

Played a run through Keith Courage in the Alpha Zones, which I hadn't done since I was a kid. I still like the game, though the nova suit parts, which control better, are a tad repetitive design-wise with a couple of spots of cheap off-screen spikes you have to jump and just know where they are. The last boss fight was tougher than I recalled, but not tremendously difficult all the same. Weak ending, though.

I watched Superman: Doomsday over Xbox Live. It's a direct to DVD and internet movie based on the comics where Superman dies and returns. The voice acting had it's ups and downs but it was pretty well animated with some good action scenes. Glad I rented it.

I watched The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Great movie, if a little long. I love Clint Eastwood, he's the best. I'm going to rent the other two in the "man with no name" trilogy next.

F.E.A.R came today from Gamefly and I started it. I'm not very far so far, but it's basically standard FPS gameplay with horror elements thrown in at times. Some of what I saw was pretty creepy.

I think I'm going to buy the Wii version of SMB2j. It'll be cool to play the NES version of that on a television. I'd like to try that Sin & Punishment import too, but it's a bit pricey. 12 or 15 dollars, I forget which.

I finally got a dragon scale in EO, and have been molesting and raping the other 2 dragons over and over trying to get the other retardedly rare scales ever since Monday night.

FEAR kind of sucks. There are hardly any horror bits now and it's just gunfight after gunfight against the same enemies. Every area so far looks almost exactly the same. It's dark as hell, which would be cool if there was scary stuff, but only occasionally will you have some hallucination or see something weird. You can temporarily slow time during battle, but you slow down too, so it's not really that interesting. I wanted to be scared or at least startled frequently.

I reached the beginning of level 5 in F.E.A.R. There are 11 altogether.

The last one was a little better as it focused more on exploration and atmosphere than gunfighting. This also served to make the fighting more enjoyable because it wasn't the only thing you were doing. I lowered the difficulty a notch earlier because the pace of the game was too slow for me on a higher setting. You really have to take cover constantly and use slow motion all the time. Lowering it makes it more of a run and gun experience, but still very possible to get killed.

I just don't know what to do with that cat. She messed up another wire on me. The Wii A/V cable. I got it working by wiggling it around a lot, but I'll have to get a new one. I just can't think of anything else to try with her. We put that goop on the wires that's supposed to deter cats and dogs, but I don't know how long it's supposed to last for. And you can't ever get every single wire in the house.

So anyway, I tried out SMB2j. It's a one of a kind experience, much different than Lost Levels and playing in on a television without having to import anything is kind of remarkable. And much better than seeing it on an emulator. Luigi seems to take an incredibly long time to stop compared to the SNES version. I used him all the time there, but I find him almost unplayable right now without relearning how to play. I don't agree with some of the design choices... I think the common ground design with it's rocky look is inferior to the original's. But there are other minor alterations that are kind of nifty which you don't see on All-Stars.

So in this version, you start with 3 lives and if you get a Game Over, you start from level 1 of whichever world you were on. In All-Stars, you could keep playing the exact level over and over making having lives and Game Overs pretty pointless. I think you have to beat the game 8 times or something in order to access Worlds A, B, C, etc.

I didn't mention this, but I've been playing Neutopia with Contra. I hadn't played either in a while because my schedule was too crammed, but last night I played Neutopia and got the the second medallion and access to subterrania.

Man, unless the dungeons start getting really devious, you could probably beat this game in two hours at this rate.
