I just beat Agahnim. I still didn't know how to tell when he's going to do the lightning versus the other two attacks, but I didn't get hit with it anyway. I just looked it up to be sure.

He always goes to the top center of the room to do the lightning attack.

I was confused because I thought he did other kinds of attacks from the center of the room. But apparently, it's the lightning one if he doesn't turn to face you when you move. Anyway, I've never had the slightest trouble beating him without knowing that before.

I beat Oracle of Seasons already. I'm probably going to get Oracle of Ages so I can play through that one and unlock the bonus dungeon.

I just finished the Palace of Darkness in LttP. This dungeon and the dark world itself are a pretty big leap in difficulty from anything that comes before. That said, I didn't really find the palace to be a big challenge. I got a Game Over from falling off a ledge with one heart, because I didn't want to waste a potion. And one time, I was stuck, missing one key, but I tracked it down fairly easily.
I had thought that after you destroyed the armor of the boss and hit him for a while he had a second form, but I'm obviously thinking of something else. Going into this dungeon, I had about 80 rupees left. That's from paying the monkey and buying two red potions. After finishing it, I'm back up to around 400 rupees. |

I think the Dark World Dungeon was fairly challenging, but (obviously) not because of its action. I did get stuck for some time on the statue that needs to be shot. It's also a fairly complex dungeon in general. There's the maze in the darkness. Some travelling back and forth between floors. It's funny (considering it's only the first dark world dungeon), but it almost seems like one of the most complex dungeons in the game.

I wonder if it was meant as a later dungeon originally and they shuffled things around. Or maybe they just ran out of steam with the later dungeons.

In MDK2 Armageddon, I got through that outer space part where I kept dying on Jinkies! on my first try. The BFB took me about four tries.
I'm to the first checkpoint in Kurt's second stage. |

I just finished watching Saw III. It was alright for what it was. From what I remember, it was more entertaining than Saw II. I wouldn't recommend it to people in general, though.
I want to use this space to again complain about CNN's video only articles. Because I have Windows Media Center edition, I can't view anything that uses Windows Media Player functionality unless I use Internet Explorer. Switching browsers is a pain in the ass. What I usually do instead is google the jist of the story and read about it on another news site. |

I restarted Airforce Delta Strike now that I'm more used to the controls and I beat the first four missions in under 10 minutes, altogether. I got back up to the canyon mission I kept bombing out on before and still had trouble. Finally, I opted to use Ruth Valentine's plane and I won with her on my first attempt. There were two reasons why: The first is that her plane took less damage from bullets. The second is that it was more maneuverable in the area near the end. Ken Thomas's plane kept stalling when I tried to turn around in that spot.
I beat a few more missions and ended up getting stuck on a train escort mission. It'd be like that Star Fox 64 stage if you had to protect the train instead of destroy, and if you could turn around. I kept failing this mission because there's one part where 3-4 enemy planes are hiding out and ambush the train as it comes through. They'd blow it up before I had a chance to do anything. But once I learned where they were hiding, I was able to fly on ahead of the train and take a shortcut to them. I nailed several of them before the train even got close. Once those guys were out the rest were easy. I had to use Alex Levine's plane.

In Lufia, I got through Elfrea. I found the ruby, but couldn't find the gem for the blue tower. I got fed up with this game's insane encounter rate and turned to GameFAQs, and I could just smack my head.

I already beat 3 games this year: Castlevania SotN, TMNT 3, and TMNT Turtles in Time.
I have files on TMNT Hyperstone Heist, Aria of Sorrow, Castlevania HoD, Xenogears, Legend of Mana, and SaGa Frontier. I want to beat a lot of games this year. |

Damn, I need to play something. In my continuing quest to be an RPG whore, maybe I'll start Lufia, too. I beat the second one but not the first one. I purposefully did it that way so I wouldn't have Lufia 2's ending spoiled since I kept hearing that the beginning of 1 spoils the ending of 2.

Ha ha ha! Last night I wanted to try one more mission in AFDS before going to bed. I was told I had 6 minutes to complete the mission. I knew that what this meant was that once you got there, you had to beat the mission within 6 minutes on the timer. But what I didn't realize is that if you go back to base (which I did to save) after the fight that occurs right before the mission (each mission seems to have a mini-battle right before it now), it counts towards those 6 minutes and you automatically fail. Good thing I can just reload my save file.
This game has a replay function and even lets you save replays to your memory card. That's going to make taking screenshots of this game for a review (if I ever review it) VERY easy! Unfortuantely, I didn't think to save my replay from the train stage because that's one of the more interesting ones. Speaking of which, I did think the canyon and train stages were rather interesting. I think this is the first time I've played a stage in a 3D shooter that has all-range movement, yet the layout and conditions of the stage still force you to move forward along a set path at almost all times. But there are parts that might force you to turn around. In the train stage, I had to turn around after ambushing those enemy fighters because one of them got away from and went right for the train, which was still far behind me. But you have to be careful about turning around because you don't want to run into a canyon wall.

I just started the new Phoenix Wright. I notice that I can't advance the text faster than normal by pressing A, maybe because when I played the first one, someone had already beaten it.

I got Metal Gear Solid 3:Subsistence and I'm playing through on European Extreme mode on a no kill run (also a no alert run, but you lose instantly if you are seen on European Extreme mode). I'm all the way up to The Fury, I was having some trouble, but I think I'll do better now that I remembered that I have the Mosin Nagant. Stealth is a lot more important on this mode, while obviously I can't be seen, since this is extreme mode, the enemies are extremely paranoid, if I take out an enemy with my silenced tranquilizer gun, they will still notice and call for reinforcements, and their sight is so good that there are very few places where it is safe to stand, making the codename Snake all the more apt as I have spent probably 90% of this run crawling. It's kinda neat though having to take advantage of all the tricks that I used to ignore on lower difficulties, such as this one time when I was almost through a room and the last guard noticed me move while in the cardboard box, right when he was about to lift it up and discover me, I ran into him, which stunned him a little bit, giving me just enough time to punch him out and run to safety in the next zone. I also got a PSP and both Metal Gear Acid games for Christmas, don't know what to say about these ones, I really like collecting stuff, and that was certainly satisfied by card battling games, but as far as other things go, I don't really know what to say, on the one hand I rarely died , but that might have been because I never went to the next level without carefully considering what I'd need, and for certain reasons I don't have a clear opinion on the story and play control.

Legend of Zelda - I beat the first quest and have just now started on the second.
I'm trying to do this one without looking things up, but there's a lot of stuff that I am having trouble finding. I didn't get the bow in the first dungeon, so I'm probably going to look it up now just so I have an idea of what direction these dungeons are going in (other than the obvious letter motif they've got going so far). It's not like I used the bow much, anyway. One rupee per arrow seems quite steep. |

I finished part of the first Phoenix Wright trial. It's a little slow as it's geared toward teaching new players. This is accomplished by giving Phoenix temporary amnesia, and so he doesn't know the basics. Something new I've seen already is that you can present character profiles in addition to your regular evidence to prove a point.
I finished Crucible: McCoy. It was mostly a good story, and the ending was somewhat sad and satisfying. I was thinking about getting the free Vista upgrade that I qualified for by purchasing this PC late last year. I might not actually want to install it, with drivers issues and other stuff that can go wrong with an OS upgrade, but if I have the disc, I can upgrade for free if circumstances (new program requirements or whatever) force me to in a year or two. |

Holy crap! I just had to do this mission in AFDS that involved taking out three huge turbines that create tornados. The problem is that you can't attack from the sides of the turbines because the tornados they generate deflect the missiles. And you can't fly through the tornados because if you hit their walls, you crash and fail the mission.
What you have to do is go above the cloud level, look for the very tops of the tornados (swirling cloud vortices with very dark spots in the center) and dive down into the funnels! On your dive, you have to take out the turbines. I found it impossible to take out the turbines without slamming into the ground or the walls of the tornados this way. So what I had to do is dive into the darkest part of the cloud and then immediately start going in a loop-de-loop pattern. As my bomb sights passed over the target area, I'd drop bombs like crazy and hope they hit. Let me tell you something about this game: In Star Fox 64, when you barrel roll, your ship itself rolls. In AFDS when you loop around like that, the ship doesn't appear to change position...THE WHOLE BACKGROUND does! And it can be extremely dizzying and disorienting! I did complete the mission and saved my replay. I need to actually save the mission status, too now.

I only played Aria of Sorrow for about a half hour tonight, but I beat Legion. That is one of the easiest bosses in the game, even on Hard. I think the difference on Hard must be that it has more hit points, because, despite how easy it was, the fight lasted forever.
I decided to use up all my magic on Lightning Doll attacks on it right away, on the (correct) assumption that my magic would refill before it went into phase two. I don't remember how I got that screenshot of the headhunter boss, but I guess it was during the time trial. There, I had 788 max hp. I still have less than that. |

I just finished the first chapter of Phoenix Wright: JFA. Like the first game, there's no investigation section, so I'll be looking forward to seeing how that part changed, and I've read that it has, when I start case 2. The first chapter's trial did get slightly more complicated as it went on. At the very least, I think it was more challenging than the opening case from the original. The returning characters use all the same animations from the first game, which I actually don't mind. It's like seeing old friends. But I've liked what I've seen of the designs and animations those introduced for this one, too.

In Lufia, I have some caves I need to get through to meet the guy who gives me the submarine.
In MDK: Armageddon, I finished Kurt's second stage, cleared out Max's second stage (I was naughty and skipped the part with the floating debris in the plutonium with the jetpack), and deactivated the first bomb in Doc's second stage. I tried to find my notes, then realized I wasn't going to need them; not because I remembered which bomb was which, but because of those pulses that travel along the cable (at least it's not a constant pulse as I originally thought, just an occasional one). There actually isn't an arrow pointing at where you're supposed to shoot Schwang in Stage 4; it's an expanding red circle. Man, even when I knew how to beat him it still took me three or four tries. |

Looked up some of the voice actors for AFDS. I only recognized two:
Desiree Goyette (Nermal, singer, and additional voices on Garfield) - I've seen Collette in the game but didn't recognize her voice. I'll have to listen for that next time she shows up. Don't remember if I've seen Ellen yet. Terry McGovern (Launchpad McQuack) - Doesn't say who he is, though. I'm surprised I don't see Cam Clarke/Jimmy Flinders listed. I could've sworn I heard someone that sounded just like him. BTW, I didn't mention it yet but there is constant chatter amongst the characters when you're in-flight. It's almost impossible to pay attention to all of it. I guess if you really want to know what was going on, you'd have to watch the replay and listen to all of it again.

Quote: The second quest is MUCH harder to do without looking things up. The things you have to do are more abstract. If you don't want to completely spoil a particular task, but if you think you might need some general hints, here are a few: -When exploring the overworld, you never know when doing something on a particular screen will have an effect. (Follow-up hint if that's not enough: Remember reaching the 7th dungeon in the first quest? You might have to do things like that more often) -The dungeons have walk-through walls. That is, walls that look solid, but that can be walked through if you press against them. |

I'm up to Max's third chapter in MDK2: Armageddon.
Y'know, I wonder if I would have gotten the sixth boss on my own if I had found there's a respawning Plutonium. I'm certain once I ran out of what I entered with and couldn't find anything, and that's why I got so thrown off. |
