...though those would work even for people with only one eye.

I think it's interesting how a lot of things that try to look 3D with trickery (like those GIFs, magic eyes, modern 3D movies) can look more three dimensional than real life. Looking at a magic eye is often like looking into a hole into another dimension.

I don't know if I've said this before, but we got another book of "Magic Eye-like" images, though not made by the Magic Eye people. (It looks to be Eye Tricks)

It's kind of neat, but maybe too many images are of the "floater" variety rather than the hidden image kind.

Also, a couple seem like they'd be impossible to do.

Usually, the pattern for those things has somewhere between 4 and 8 "columns" or "periods", and you see the image when you overlap one column with another. (I think one reason some people have trouble with these is that some of the older magic eyes looked like a like of random visual noise until the 3D image appeared -- the columns were not obvious, so you might not have known how much you needed to move the images)

However, there's at least one in that book that's only TWO columns! I don't think I can diverge my eyes that much. I've tried holding the book farther way but it still hasn't worked.

There are some "demo" images in the books introduction that explain how to make the images work, and some of those are only two images, but they're much, much smaller, so it's easy to get those to work.
