They're paying for the collectiblity of the SNES game, which will probably be the same regardless of a DS version. (I see ~$80 BIN's for SNES Final Fantasy III, and there are several other versions of that game available). And it looks like it only goes up to $80 for complete versions of the game.

You know, that service for the Wii where you can download Super Nintendo games for $8 (among other games for other consoles at other prices)? Or if you just want to play it, shell out the $80 for the cart, then turn around and sell it for $80 when you're done. Or rather the $50, because as we've already established, $80+ is for a complete copy. Of course, if $8 is still to much, or you don't own a Wii, or you don't want to deal with that thar dumb-fanglin' eBay, just download ZNES and a Chrono Triger ROM.
