In Mission Earth #1: The Invaders Plan, there's a part where the main character (a fully grown adult) acts out a temper tantrum to get his way. He claims he got the idea from Earth Psychologists and Bugs Bunny (who he mistakenly thinks is a psychologist).

When I first read that book, I had no idea about L Ron Hubbard's stance against psychologists, and it seemed like just comedy (it must have been at least partially intended to be humorous). The joke, however, seemed to me to be

-That the main character misunderstands psychology, really badly.
-He embarrasses himself -- he's a hardened killer who is acting like a child (holding his breath, etc.)
-The way people react to this...
-...and that, after all, it really does get him his way!


By now, I have no idea what Scientology themes Hubbard was trying to work into that section. My first thought, when I learned they hated psychiatry, might have been that he really did think that psychologists are basically Bugs Bunny, and this was his way of pointing it out -- not that this makes any sense, but hey.

Now I'm not so sure, though, because it seems like that Scientology method in that video basically is throwing a temper tantrum. So, maybe they do really advocate that.


Incidentally, Jeffrey Scott, who wrote some episodes of the Dungeons and Dragons, Super Friends, and Muppet Babies cartoons, was a Scientologist, and he supposedly put some Scientology allegory into some of those.
