Every once in a while I'll go over to Toy's Be We and buy some old school transformers(they sell old school transformers at Toy's Be We in a commemorative series). Sitting next to the old ones are the new ones.
Let me tell you...the new ones suck ass.
Now, some of you will say I'm just being nostalgic. I'm an old fart and old farts like old crap. The problem with that is I've bought imported transformers-new ones-and they don't suck. You want to know why?
The old school ones that I've bought and the new imports I've bought have one thing in common.
They look like cars.
Cars, that, even though exotic, I could possibly see. Sideswipe looks like a lamborgini. Jazz looks like a racing porche, Optimus Prime looks like a big rig. I've bought a Brawn imported and made in 2003 that looks like a truck. That's what was cool about transformers, they were Robots in disguise Get it? disguise. What in the hell are these new transformers? Robots in no way shape or form disguised? The only thing they have in common with any vehicle I've ever seen are the fact that they have wheels. You see a porche going down the street, you think "cool, a porche" you see one of those freakish things you'd be like "OH SHIT! A TRANSFORMER" I never see a car with a side mounted rocket launcher. These new transformers don't disguise shit. That's one of the reasons I stopped buying transformers when I was a kid, they looked less and less disguised. By the time thr Pretender Transformers line came out, I got sick of them and I was only about 13 years old.
This seems to be the new American transformers. Like a said above, I've bought several imports that are new models that look sweet. Even Beast wars transformers tried to look like animals. I'm just saying give people something to relate to. Not this plastic garbage in a box. Even if the new line is supposed to be "the future", I bet top loading missle carrying "fire trucks"-if you want to call them that-aren't the norm.
