I need to hook up my new scanner this weekend and see if I can get it to work.

This post is more in reply to the discussion of drawing skill evolution in the game progress topic, but since it's rather image-intensive, I figured it more appropriate for this topic.

This here is the oldest drawing of Christopher Paladin that I still have:


I put the date of this picture sometime around 1988. The reason I don't have anything older is because (and I REALLY hate to admit this but...) Christopher had a mustache in my oldest pictures. Yes. Glad I realized how utterly stupid that was and got rid of it.


After about a few months of drawing Christopher like the above picture, I steadily started improving the design. Here's a couple from around 1989 and 90.


This picture was a remake of the first panel Christopher ever appeared in. This one was probably around 1991 or so. The design is clearly improving, but I still didn't quite like the way I was drawing his face. (Eyes too close together.)


So, by the time I stopped writing Image Arcane, this was pretty much the design I was using.


This image was drawn on one of my college notebooks on one of those yellowish pages that divide the sections (that's why it's torn in a couple of places. It got a lot of use.) He's not holding his sword correctly, but he always was kind of a klutz.


This is the most recent drawing I did just a few months ago.


Here are some "sprite" images I did of the character design during a time when I was trying to refine it. A lot of times I'd use sprites to give myself a basic idea of what the characters would look like in various poses.
