I saw the weirdest thing on the news the other day. Obama was talking about closing the tax loopholes for people who get out of paying taxes by using tax havens. (Like Krusty did on the Simpsons)

The weird thing was that a commentator said that would make an "uneven playing field" because everyone who uses tax shelters would still have to pay taxes!

Yes... That's the point....

That's certainly a good thing. It'll help make up for me having to owe taxes this year (which I believe to be the fault of the place I got laid off from.) I also found out I'm making 50 cents more an hour on the job I have now than what they said I would be making. Hey, every little bit adds up.

If you took game marriage opponents' arguments literally (instead of as code), it's like they're saying, "Now we'll be forced to gay marry! And we'll be forced to perform the gay marriage ceremony, too! If a gay man walks into my cathedral and wants to gay marry me, another man, right then and there, there's nothing I or the priest or anyone else will be able to do to stop it!"

That video is worth watching, though. It addresses a "Republican" response to the housing crisis, which was something like, "People should be held accountable for trying to buy houses they couldn't afford!"

Yeah, they were. They were foreclosed on. That's not what caused the housing crisis.

When someone buys a house, the bank turns the house into monthly payments. They just automatically get money every month. They can do stuff with that...

Well, that is an amature Youtube video. I guess the point was that Bobby Jindal was speaking in a really artificial way like someone does on the TV show "30 Rock" (that guy also had a minor role as a waiter at the club in Arrested Development).

The reason I posted that video rather than his full rebuttal to Obama was simply that it was much, much shorter. The full video is so long and embarrassing that it's difficult to get through.

So, I watched the debate tonight.

I'm obviously biased, but I will say that at least McCain didn't have a "senior moment". I have no idea how either's performance will influence the polls or undecideds, but McCain was more on the offensive, calling Obama "naive", using his talking points (he managed to squeeze in a reference to his VP being a "maverick"); while Obama was more reasoned and stuck to the facts.
