Myth: You shouldn't try to become a ______ because you'll get upset when you're met with rejection.

Reality: The implication of this myth is that if you just get a normal job, you'll be magically surrounded by
people who will always be nice to you and you'll live happily ever after.

Myth: You can't go to college because you can't do _____ or because ____ is too hard for you.

Reality: If you get a "normal" job, chances are whatever you're doing...

I agree that if someone's a bully, it doesn't necessarily mean that that person has a bad home life, but I'd say it's true often enough to
understand why someone would come to that conclusion.
While we're on the subject of bullying, I might as well mention another such myth that has always pissed me off. (Based on what she said, I'm guessing
it has been pissing off Flying Omelette, too.) That myth is, "Just ignore them, then they'll stop bullying...

I think the more appropriate term for the bully thing is "Stereotype" rather than "Myth."
The most notorious bully in my high school was a short, skinny stoner kid. I don't know how he managed to intimidate so many people, but I think he could
sense vulnerability a mile away, and he capitalized on it. I think what he did was give a little "test" jibe and see how a person reacted. If that
person seemed intimidated, he would focus on them.
